MT6 vs UTLive

With UT Live I have seen GA aircraft landing and taking off at pretty much every major airport or small airfield I've visited. Even at remote gravel strips in the middle of nowhere in Alaska. And the GA aircraft seem to fly at somewhat sensible altitudes, unlike the default AI where there's always an A36 Bonanza up at 20,000 feet making you wonder "You OK with oxygen up there, buddy?"

Sounds good. I will have a closer look at it then!

I have used UTL in v4 since June 30th and have had no real problems at all.  In fact, since the latest release I have had absolutely no problems whatsoever.  I have traffic in UTL set at 100% and unlike past AI, there really has been no negative affect on framerates.  Today I flew into the "default" ORBX KDEN  in my A2A C172 (and almost was run over by a Southwest 737 on final!) and I couldn't believe the number of AI flights in and out of the airport.  Literally, there were always at least six airliners in the air one after the other on final and an equal number taking off one after the other. There was even a GA that came in to park next to my C172. The airport looked like a beehive, but there was really no appreciable reduction in framerates :)  I couldn't be happier with this AI.

I am one of the many affected by the ut client bug, crashing etc.. at one point i got it to manually run, but didnt see much traffic..

When you set to 100% in UTL.. what is the sim supposed to be set at.. i forget.. 0% in this case?

Hoping they come out with another beta release soon (still on .23).

Hi-busy doing hurricane stuff, so pardon the tardy response.  I leave UTL at 100% with zero traffic in the sim settings.  I found that you shouldn't start UTL separately from P3d. P3d starts it automatically.  If you leave the UTL settings unchanged from the initial install it also works better.  Also found out the UT client sometimes won't close when the sim does, so when you start the sim it says the client's failed.  So afrer p3d closes I always go to task manager and close UT client if I have to. Other than that I don't do anything else special to make it work.

BTW, moving my sim into a hotel-no power at my house.  Wife thought I was nuts to make sure my sim equipment was the first stuff to be moved out of harm's way from the hurricane.  Guy's gotta have his priorities straight, right? 😉

Forever indebted to the late Michael Greenblatt of FSGS.

In no way can you run 100% AI and have no impact to frames.  But if that is how you feel about it then so be it.

Personally,  I have it reduced to 50% and have acceptable frames even in horrible weather.

There are lots of Cargo plans included in UTL and quite a few paints as well, it does get significantly better though once you add repaints and see the cargo stuff come alive.

EHAM, the only operator I've added outside of UTL in either screen here is FedEx

FedEx plans have been available through AIG and UTT for many years, the most recent afaik are from Summer 2015 and Winter of 2016/17 for the various US feeders. Currently, there's no AI A310 available that I'd use but here's what my default KMEM looks like currently in V4.

I'm new to this...where do you find the repaint and plans?

It is not that it has no impact on frames, it is that you can set the density in UTL to 100% and use some of the other settings to limit the impact.

  • You can set a target frame rate. UTL will drop traffic to maintain at least that frame rate
  • You can set the max alt that AI on the ground are visible
  • You can set the distance to spawn AI and the max number of aircraft to spawn
  • If all else fails and you find yourself on approach with low fps, you can kill AI with a hotkey.

Yup, just check your task manager under the processes tab. If you see the UTL client running, close it before you start the sim. I usually start flights on a fresh system restart, so this issue only pops up when I am testing things. This has been the only real issue I have had. There are a couple quirks (things that are different from previous versions), but for the most part, UTL seems to be running great for me.

If you know how to install AI aircraft into the sim, you are 99% there. If not, check the UTL forum. A user created a guide for installing AI. In short, some of the UTL models can use available paints from well known developers. You can, however, assign paints to UTL flightplans from any developer. You just need to install the models and textures in the sim. Once that is done, it just takes a few clicks to assign the paint to the flightplans included in UTL. Keep in mind that P3DV4 only uses FSX models and paints, so you will be limited somewhat on what can be displayed in the sim. The folks at Alpha India Group are in the process of updating many of the FS9 models out there, but you will need to do a bit of manual labor to get those running. I have not played with any of the updated stuff yet - I'm a new dad and my time is limited. It is my understanding that MT6 also has issues with some of its models in P3DV4. All of the models in UTL work in P3DV4.

For adding plans into UTL, you'll need to wait until the full version is released along with its companion application PowerPack. As an alternative, you can run FSX style plans that are installed directly into P3D. These will operate interdependently of UTL without issue. Downloading and installing these is a whole different subject. The AVSIM library has a ton of files. Other sites include (there are a ton, these are just a few):

Does anyone have a list of GA aircraft in UT Live?

I can't seem to find a list of which GA aircraft are included...

PC: AMD 9850X3D, RAM 64GB, Geforce GTX 5090 (32GB), MSFS 2020, MSFS 2024, Pimax Super 50PPD, Quest 3

Navigate to your UTLive AI aircraft folder and you should be able to find out which GA planes are included...

Greetings, Chris

A list would still be nice for those who don't own UTL yet. I am still in doubt because it is impossible to find out of UTL will have an effect on small airports in for instance Norway. I almost always only see screenshots and video's of large airports with lots of airliners but I am not interested in that: I want GA traffic on litte strips. If anyone knows screenshots of that or a video, please let me know!

Right... I don't have it, so that is the reason for my question. It would be great if a list or screen shot is posted...
