I have downloaded the PMDG V.5.0 file and installed in FSX but no success with,i get the notify in FMC:Not in database,i give up.Many thanks for your input and support

Try the http://www.vapap.com/kai-tak-airport installer specifically for Aerosoft, PMDG Version 4.0.  Also, the manual installation instructions may work.

As far as I know, only Navigraph has begun including Kai Tak (VHHX) in its FMC data, beginning with Airac 1712.

Hi Mike, do you think after installing AIRAC 1712 we don't need to enter data manually as in the past for VHHX? Must be cool then to install the new AIRAC 1712.

Yes, as long as you get the Airac from Navigraph

Mike you are right. VHHX came back to AIRAC 1712. I have subscription with AIRAC as well. Only found one missing info for FSX and fs9 sim, Level-D which the Airport.dat file needs to add after VHHH the line VHHX 22.316959 114.202621 to complete. PMDG, PSS and iFly has VHHX included.

Also found CASABLANCA info is missing but here is what I entered:

airports.dat

I flew into Kai Tak until just before it closed.  In fact I still have my DoD plates for it.  Always flew the approach using raw data even on the MD-11.

Hi Patricio,

Level-D 1712Airports.dat file is missing entry for VHHX in my version too.

It would be good to post about these errors on the Navigraph forum.  Hopefully they can be fixed before the next airac is released.

Hi Wilhelm,

That must be a truly amazing experience!  I have never flown to Hong Kong in real life (as a passenger) and of course if I ever do it will be far too late for Kai Tak.

I am also curious as to what you mean by flying "raw data."  I take this to mean following the LOC/GS hand flying, possibly with no FD or map display.  But after the start of the turn, AFAIK there is no more FD or map guidance or ILS (except for GS pip, which is somewhat useful).   AFAIK there was never an RNAV approach (which would have provided guidance through the turn).  At KDCA, somewhat similar approach, there is an RNAV approach available which sets up the aircraft nicely for landing.  Would you be willing to describe your technique in more detail?

Thanks,

Mike

I found it, amazing yes. I have to learn how to use it properly.

The amazing was more aiming at the fact that I can see the old procedures now only days after getting Navigraph data support.

Check the two tutorials which are linked in the help menu.

And now better back to topic ...
