He basically just told me on his website that Im out of luck. Since I dont own any updates other than his to the LC I'll just stick to the old stuff. I'm not even asking for my money back. I reserve the right to #### about it, and I have availed myself of the correct process to change it. It has not been done to my satisfaction and if folks want to fly around like that than more power to them. I think a lot of people just dont know what it really looks like from the air so they dont complain. If you use UT or GE than you dont have this problem. For default users its fairly wrong in many, many places. Im done here, Ill use the old stuff, just thought that before folks BUY this they know what they are getting. In order to get realistic LC coverage with THIS PRODUCT, you need another that cost money as well.Have a nice day!Hornit

Certainly you have every right to complain (done a little of it myself lately) but listing this problem as HUGE when in effect it could be a problem on your end isn't the best way to go. I've done alot of flying in your area lately and also don't see the problems you report. Likewise, here in Arkansas where we have few tall buildings, and I don't see the problems you are reporting in you neck of the woods. Perhaps trying a reinstall will fix your problem?

I think you have a wrong impression about what you bought. As stated on the Genesis site this product you bought is:National coverage conversion from the USGS National Land Cover Dataset to the BGL format usable by FS2002/2004You are expecting realistic chosen landclass based on how the real area looks. That can only be achieved by making the landclass file by hand and I guess that the only source that could be used to make it is aerial photo's.The enormous ammount of work that would take would make the resulting product to expensive to make. Not the $ 18 we have to pay for this product. The only handpicked landclass files you will see are small areas made by scenery designers. They make the scenery blend in with their custom buildings.

>dont complain. If you use UT or GE than you dont have this>problem. For default users its fairly wrong in many, many>places.>>HornitI think you are misinformed. UT contains only URBAN landclass, it uses default landclass for everything else. And the default landclass looks dreadful in rural areas in comparison to Justin's landclass. And GE has nothing to do with landclass. It is merely textures which are placed according to whatever landclass you are using.I had a problem similar to yours, but it was with the UT urban landclass. It made several small towns in my area look like huge cities with tall buildings. When I stopped using the UT urban landclass and returned to using just the FS Genesis landclass things looks much better. Bird's Eye View with it's new smaller autogen has made my area (rural upsdate NY) look even better.Jim

if you expect perfection, don't be surprised when you're let down. complaining about the realism of a few small towns in the east coast is ridiculous.

It appears the UT Landclass does correct the areas he pointed out, so They must be considered Urban in that area. If you deselect the UTCITY landclass folder, than the tall buildings he's seeing shows up. I do agree with what everyone else is saying about not to expect every area will be as it should be, due to FS Limitations or the manual work that would need to be done to correct every area, would bring the cost to do this out of reach. FSG LC is still better than default LC and for the price we pay is well worth it!! If I understood Hornit's post though, it sounds like this problem didn't occur in previous FSG LC releases, so maybe it is an unintended bug that snuck in, rather than what Justin intended. So maybe he should just report it as such over at FSG! It doesn't look like an over run of similar LC in the area, so I don't know why it would change in this release.

Thanks

Tom

Off-topic but I've gotta say...Georgous shots, man. Really nice.Bob

What he said was: 'The FSG USLC will eventually have all those things filled in, too, but since probably 80% of USLC users also have UT, those edits have been deferred until other higher priority issues that aren't addressed by UT are taken care of. Concerning your .zip file , I thought if you still had it somewhere on your hard drive you could just attach it to an email and save redoing all the research you did previously. As it stands now, I can fiddle with the indexes up there, but in a general way. More specific adjustments will have to wait for more specific bug reports.'What you said was: 'No sweat, Ill just use the old freeware beta I had lying around. I'll be waiting to see what FSX has in store for us as far as LC goes, hopefully its a large improvement from what we have now. Don't bother with any fixes justin, not worth your time, thx.'Just to set the record straight...Doesn't seem to me that he told you that you were out of luck.DJ

Just one thing that needs to be kept in mind when these issues crop up:The problem is that addons like mesh and landclass have shown us how a relatively minor inaccuracy of an airport can now have a big impact. By the way, I saw your post in the screenshot forum. I do not have those large buildings on top of the airports like that. I cranked my autogen all the way up, and I did not have anything that looked like your screens.

Ok, I'll say this one more time then I'll leave the thread. I have a solution, I have informed Justin of what it is. This problem has existed for at least the last year. I have pointed out that this problem has existed for quite some time. I am NOT the only one who has it. I do happen to be one of the few who haven't bought UT or GE.If you dont have them you will see this problem. I HAVE AVAILED myself of the bug reporting system but nothing was done with my bug reports. It is not a local problem to the Northeast, it happens everywhere. Its not a small issue, but on the same hand its not a huge one to some folks either. It IS enough for me to NOT USE IT. My only thoughts here were to show those who might be in the same boat I am what is what, thats all end of story. I will no longer complain on this issue. I know my way around LC and scenery and it is DEFINITELY not an issue with my install. It's only visible when I install it AS INSTRUCTED. Ive been around a while and when I see something like this:"The FSG USLC will eventually have all those things filled in, too, but since probably 80% of USLC users also have UT, those edits have been deferred until other higher priority issues that aren't addressed by UT are taken care of." It means pretty much I am out of luck. Ok, I'm done, sorry if this descenede into a #### session, I just wanted folks to know what they might be getting. Carry on, I'm finished. My sim looks fine with the old free stuff anyway.Hornit

If you -read- before you buy, you understand what you are buying. Landclass cant be perfect on the first release. The author Justin does not ... live ... in every area of the country. From day one, he explained that he would make changes or updates as he has time, that people send him, and has upgraded this program FREE, many times since it was first released. If you can do better, why dont you do it? Considering the number of people who purchased it, there are very few who are not satisfied with the purchase. After all, you did NOT pay 30 to 50 dollars for it, and each upgrade has had enough changes, each one is worth the original cost.

Well, I do not have UT or GE either, and there are no such problems. There MUST be something else in your system causing these large buildings, and if they are not caused by Justin's landclass, how can he fix it?

The emotional intensity belies your attempt to say that you are not "bashing" (whatever that is). There is a possibility that your install has some issue. I suggest that you use LWMVIEWER to examine your specific area of concern. You could use the program to place a small suburban landclass section in the desert and see what style buildings are used. All Justin can do is use the landclass elements given to him by Bill Gates. If Bill said that skyscrapers were appropriate for Cool Crops that is what Justin would give to you. Justin does NOT go into the system and change generic buildings. If they are too big direct your claims to Microsoft. I would agree that some of the buildings that Bill Gates selected for small suburban's textures are too large. But landclass can only use what is given to it in terms of structures. Your next argument could be that you did not buy a product to have to make changes. Well, I just had to reinstall Windows because of a flawed Os, and it cost a lot more than a landclass file. The "PC world" is a field of technical landmines and is not for the faint of heart. Drive through any small town and you will see little PC shops. Do you ever wonder how the sustain their income? Well, it is from people who buy PC/MACs and do not have a clue about the internals (electrical or software). When something goes wrong guess where they go for help. My point is that you can fix the problem. However, you will have to spend a lot of time and enjoy the process.Dick - not to far from Justin's lairPS: If you like tedious detail work use the Autogen program provided by Microsoft to alter the building sizes in the "small suburban" textures. There are many textures in that class but it can be done. I did the summer textures to suit my view of that class but did not have the patience to do all seasons. Of course, my building sizes may still not agree with yours. The point is that you do have control but it is time consuming! Or buy Bird's Eye View and hope (once again) that their structure selection matches your view.

Ok this is what I was looking for, now have two folks who have basically default set ups without the problem. I think its the texture I am getting displayed in those eareas and for some reason, its giving me those buildings. Could someone who does NOT have this problem go to Westfield MA. I think its Barnes Municipal, and take a clear screnshot from directly above and post it please? I want to compare what texture you have versus mine, I think that is my problem, although I dont have any reworked textures here. I DO use Sbuilder and have done numerous small areas of editing and I get what I think i should get when I use the classes provided in the program. No surprises there yet. I have done, and I am doing scenery, and I'm an aircraft painter, so no stranger to tediuos work here! Hornit
