FS Genesis Landclass 1.11

Featured Replies

They updated the landclass again, but thanks to the inability to listen there is still a HUGE problem with it. In many, many places (just about everywhere) there are far too many larger multistory buildings populating the landscape. I fly a lot in New England and its basically unusuable due to the highly innacurate towns created using this particular landclass. I continue to use one of the last beta builds(which was free) which appears to not have this particular problem. I did pay for the upgrades, and I HAVE posted at least two times in the last year to the troubleshooting service they have. Never been fixed, and at this point with FSX coming it probably never will be. Hornit

I think the product is great. After all...it is a flight simulator and I'm not sure it was ever advertised as a terrain or town simulator. ce

It's Landclass, which means at least semi accurate towns and terrain even if generic. Its been wrong since I paid for it. Just alerting those who have paid for it. Also hoping that someone from FS Genesis will comment. It's a product that we shouldnt be paying to beta test. I have learned a lot about payware in the last year or two and Im VERY stingy with my dollars now. I actually wish I had not paid for this as I'm basically using the free version still. My fault, but since I purchased it, I reserve the right to publicly complain :)Have a nice day!Hornit

It's certainly your right to complain, but note that Justin has always said that the landclass is a work in progress. I don't have a bit of problem with paying him a few bucks to support his work. I've used it since the early betas and am very pleased with it. In combination with UT and GE, it provides an incredible environment.DJ

I'm a private pilot and I live and fly in New England. I've been using the FSG US landclass in FS9 since early 2004. I'm not saying it's prefect, but I certainly would not say it's highly inaccurate. I have compared FS with the landclass to Google Earth, and I can also speak from personal experience and hundreds of hours flying the skies of New England in real life. In version 1.09 Justin did a lot of work to the entire northeast and IMO really got it pretty close, especially New England, so I'd be curious to know exactly what areas you feel are so bad that you felt you had to post your findings of a "HUGE" problem. I'm not saying you're incorrect, only that I haven't noticed any "HUGE" inaccuracy and would like to know how I missed it, especially here in my backyard.

I am content if the landclass give you the basic overall appearance of a certain city. Yet I have read some post where people are screaming rip off because the houses on their street are the wrong size. Same with rivers, lakes and ponds. One guy was cursing Ultimate Terrain because the lake he fished at was not shaped exactly right. Some "rivet counters" get all bent out of shape over the mislocation of a antenna by a few inches. As for me,Im happy we have this sim at all as computer games are going the way of the dodo and as far as I know, there are only a few sims out there and even less planned for the future.

Many many towns in New england have HUGE buildings where they dont belong. I could give you screenshots but right now I dont have the time. Its ok as far as the placement of the towns but the type of class he is using is obviously messed up. I am definitely NOT a nitpicker, this is a big issue IMHO and as I said I get around it by using the Old one. Ill post some shots If I can and we can compare. Maybe something in my set up is not correct.Hornit

I find it strange that you don't use the FSGenesis Portal and trouble shooting service FSGenesis self said about this new release: "A few issues remain and will be addressed in upcoming revisions. Please report any desired changes to the BugTracker o

I have FSG USLC, UTUSA, and GE textures, and I am not seeing the autogen problems you report, at least in the Westfield MA area. I suspect the GE makes a difference. I haven't studied the textures, but my understanding is that they really worked on the autogen.scott s..

*edit*please see following post. I put all the screenshots into one page..

>Check out the post I just put up in the screenshot forum. If>your NOT seeing this then I'd like to compare things, Its not>usable for me like this. Its far too innacurate.>>http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...id=230918&page=>>HornitJustin's landclass product is very good. I think the problem you are having is not with the landclass, but with your terrain/auto-gen textures. Or your landclass is not installed correctly.I checked out your screenshots and decided to take some flights in the same area(s). I didn't see a single building taller than 2 stories. Compare my first shot of Westfield, MA to your's. I have trees and some lakes in the lower right area, whereas you have tall buildings. Something is not right in your setup. It's NOT the landclass.I have the lastest US LC installed (v 1.11).By the way, thanks for introducing me to a new place to fly virtually. These places are beautiful. *these shots are not edited*http://fengzhudesign.com/fs2004/fsg_us_lc_01.JPGhttp://fengzhudesign.com/fs2004/fsg_us_lc_02.JPGhttp://fengzhudesign.com/fs2004/fsg_us_lc_03.JPGhttp://fengzhudesign.com/fs2004/fsg_us_lc_04.JPGhttp://fengzhudesign.com/fs2004/fsg_us_lc_05.JPGhttp://fengzhudesign.com/fs2004/fsg_us_lc_06.JPG*edit*here's a quick Google-Map compare as well. I'd say Justin's landclass is right on the money! something is definitely not right with your setup, and it's not Justin's fault. Please look for a positive solution rather than bash the product. Can you post a screenshot of your scenery setup and list what add-ons you have installed? That way we can help you figure out the problem...http://fengzhudesign.com/fs2004/fsg_us_lc_compare_01.JPGand your original screenshot of the same area:http://fengzhudesign.com/fs2004/fsg_us_lc_compare_02.JPG-fz

>I have FSG USLC, UTUSA, and GE textures, and I am not seeing>the autogen problems you report, at least in the Westfield MA>area. I suspect the GE makes a difference. I haven't studied>the textures, but my understanding is that they really worked>on the autogen.>>scott s.>.>Scott, Yak Yak! The actual difference is The Landclass included in UTUSA which will supercede FSG Landclass in certain areas, not GE. You can verify that by disabling your UTCITY (FSG/UT sandwich) scenery which FS will then default to your FSG Landclass and you will see what Hornit is seeing. GE and it's Autogen shouldn't make a difference, as it will improve the quality of the textures and autogen, over default, but it shouldn't change the type of autogen unless the default type is wrong to begin with.

Thanks

TF has it right, Im not bashing this, just pointing out a flaw. I HAVE used the reporting facility several times hence thats why Im here, I wanted to see if others have this also. I have NO other add-ons except some mesh and I also use Free Flow New England, which only changes the lakes and streams, and shorelines, nothing else. If I use Justin's older file its ok. I just want to take part in all the improvements without the giant buildings. I dont use UTUSA or any other road programs either. Its basically default with some mesh added, thats it. Maybe its time to get UTUSA, but I think Im gonna wait for FSX and see what it has to offer. Those screenies above are so nice because you are using UT, that is what is making the area so accurate. It's very obvious to me that the LC provided with that, along with the roads and water features is why our shots differ so much. Its not FSG's LC. I could show you shots of the before and after between the "old" file I use and this new one. The older file looks very close to your shots except for the UT textures and roads. Nice screshots above!!!Hornit

FSgenesis states without any ambiguity on the purchase page : This product is evolutionary, constantly being updated, tweaked, tuned, based on end-user input.in other words imperfect as any work in progress is. But I've had this addon since the days of 2K2 and I can vouch for Justin's dedication to the product. Sticking to his guns he does update, tweak, tune as promised. All for the best.Long before UT, FSGenesis gave us a new dimension in simming and it's still now that we've UT a wonderful addon. Couldn't do without it. 'nuff said ?Nope. Thanks Justin.
