April 11, 200620 yr Good evening everyone. For a long time I have been flying simple short hops using the B200 , MD80, 737NG, and Baron58 & 36 etc.. from KFLL-KTPA / KPAE-KPDX / CYVR-KPDX / TJSJ-TNCM etc... You get the picture. 100-200nm flights. Well I have found for the first time since FS9 came out, I am starting to get bored. I am looking to explore. Is there any good short hops outside of the areas I listed? I want to go to maybe, Alaska, or anywhere for that matter. I am looking for areas that have alot of intersting landscape with more than usual autogen. I notice some areas in FS9 are very baron compared to others. Thank you so much. I look forward to seeing where others are flying and enjoying themselves. All my best everyone!
April 11, 200620 yr Hi,I can suggest visiting FSEconomy and taking a look around. For your short hops in the Baron you may find it perfect. Some might call it a VA, but I say, it can offer you those short hops you are looking for.http://dot.kelder.net:8080/fseconomy/Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter
April 11, 200620 yr I have to agree with Jim on this. FS Economy has brought back the "fun" of flight simulator. I switch off between short 50-100 mile VFR flights in the 172 and 250+ IFR (with Active Sky of course)in the FSD Seneca. The virtual $$$ make it more interesting. Trying to save up now to purchase my first plane.:D Kyle Main Sim PC: P3D v5.2 & MSFS 2020, i9-10850k @ 5.0 GHz, ASUS Maximus XII Hero, ASUS TUF-RTX3080-12G, Dell U3011 30" IPS monitor, G.Skill 32GB 3200 Trident Z 14-14-14, Samsung 512GB 960 Pro NVMe (OS), Samsung 2TB 970 EVO NVMe (Sim), Win 10 Pro 64, Yoko Yoke, Saitex Combat Rudder Pedals, Honeycomb Bravo Throttle Quadrant
April 11, 200620 yr One thing to try--get Holger's mesh for the Alps, and try some of the city pairs there, such as Innsbruck to Milan, or Geneve to St. Moritz, or Sion to Interlaken. That would open up some challenging flights in excellent terrain with the variety of landscape the area is noted for. I don't tire of flying around Holger's scenery, especially if I choose aircraft that have to fly through the mountain passes vs. over them :)-John
April 11, 200620 yr FreeFlow Florida kept me busy for quite a while exploring that great scenery. There is a set of tutorial flights (9 different flights as I recall) here in the library. It takes you on a round robin from Tallahassee, down the Gulf coast to Key West and back up the Atlantic side. Good stuff. R-
April 11, 200620 yr Good morning,Thanks guys for the tips. I look forward to seeing some new sights. Have a good day.
April 11, 200620 yr There are a lot of, for me, interesting flights to be had by just looking at some airline routes. Go to Chataqua airlines, or Allegiant Air for some interesting destinations. Not necessaily in terms of scenery, but just different airports. With AS6 and new airports I keep myself interested in new IFR approaches, etc. I've always found the smaller airline, and even the larger airline, routes to provide a source of new destinations. Mike
April 11, 200620 yr Scandinavia can offer some interesting flights too; the rugged coasts of Norway, especially with some of the excellent freeware enhancements can be stunning :)
April 12, 200620 yr Hi, Not exactly new flights, but a different program (freeware) to make up flight plans. It's called Super Flight Planner by Alessandro Antonini and can be used outside FS9, which is a big plus I think.IMHO it puts a whole different perspective on making flights up and is brilliant. Once you have a flight set up it can be exported to the GPS in FS9 but I just print them out and then fly with the radios. This means you have to keep your wits about you listening for call-signs, checking NDBs and VORs etc etc and makes the whole thing a bit more interesting and involving. IMHO again!Andy.
April 12, 200620 yr FS Desinations www.fsdestinations.com is a good place to go. You can choose between IFR and VFR. Some have flight plans you can download, soem you have to set up yourself but the destinations are given. I contributed "Blue ridge and Smoky Mtn Views" flight. http://www.fsdestinations.com/flight.php?t...il&idflight=254It was my first. I went on to upload it to several sites, including Avsim. I found that whole process to be a lot of fun. And, deffinitely different.Earl
April 13, 200620 yr I just went to check out fsdestinations. Thank you!!!! I forgot about this site. This looks like the ticket. I never worked with this site before, but it seems pretty cut and dry. I will let you know how it goes with the new flights. Thanks again!
April 13, 200620 yr Do you fly IFR or VFR? IF so..what add on scenaries you have or is that not an option?IF you fly IFR.. flying to Aspen Co, from say Denver is a challenge...if you have VOZ or Flight1's GE, or even the default FS9 is good.Bad weather or good weather... its niceFlight from Palm Springs (if you have the freeware shez's KPSP airport and Megascenary so cal to Las vegas or KSAN or KLAX is greatFlight from KLGA to KPVD (VFR) is awesome if you have Aerosoft's Manhatten and the freeware VOZ or Flight1's GE and Providene (KPVD) scenary from Flight scenary. I don't understand any of what they say... but the screen shots is jaw dropping.. I am waiting/following up on thishttp://www.llhinfo.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=23Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
April 13, 200620 yr I just completed a trip around the world in the Beech A36 ...using only short hops. That is quite challenging, especially when trying to cross oceans, and it will keep you busy for weeks. Keep a map or globe handy to see places that you may never get to see in real life. Try landing in Katmandu sometime. There's no ILS and the airport sits in a vally surrounded by huge mountains.Kindest Regards,Brett
April 13, 200620 yr Hey Brett,Wow, I salute your tenacity! Did you keep up with the various flights? Thanks,Earl
