Anybody tried MDMax MD80 Pro?

Featured Replies

Have been looking at the MDMax MD Super 80 package. 73.50 USD for the FULL FMS version. Looks very complete and something other than an airbus or boeing to fly. Can anybody advise how this compares to say the PMDG or LDS Boeing products? Is it comparable? How are the manuals? I dont have time for long haul flights and prefer regional to middle distance domestic type flights. (2 hours max). So..the Super 80 package looks interesting, even if it is a little expensive.Eric

One thing I now always do before buying a product is to go read the support forum to see how responsive the developers are to user input. Defensiveness and obfuscation on the part of the developers is a red flag in my book. I suggest you read the MDMAX forum and then make up your own mind. I have the Lago Maddog and am now very pleased with it. Development on this bird continues, and the developer has even promised another patch for the current version. http://www.flythemaddog.comricardo

Hello,I have it and also the Flight One Super MD-80. I fly the Flight One because it has startup options all the way from cold and dark to ready for takeoff. The MDMAX is really complete and is not for the faint of heart. The manuals are really intense (look like the real thing to a sim pilot like me). I can fly it if I use the Flight Sim CHECK LIST MANAGER from SEA, The MADDOG startup works OK here.Anyway, these are in a league of their own for me. I really like intense flight sims. I fly the DODOSIM helo and the md-80 from FS1 because they are intense. But, since you brought it up, I may go back to the MDMAX again. It is very complete in simulation. You probably can't go wrong with it or the FS1 bird.Cheers,Ron SagelNEAR KCHS

I recently bought the Flight 1 Super 80 and it's very impressive. The nice thing is, it can be as complex or as simple as you want it. The thing I like is that you can walk through the checklists and it will point out each knob or switch if you want.Take a look at it.Jim

MDMAX Forum's are for product owners only ? , they will not be getting my cash.

Save your money on the MDMax it's way overpriced for what you get. LevelD and PMDG has shown that you can deliver a sophisticated plane with all the bells and whistles without sacrificing graphical quality. I've seen the MDMax first hand oh goodness that panel looks like something from FS98 and the aircraft itself is not even up to FS2000 standards. Go for either Lago if you like your MD80's with modern instrumentation or the Flight1 MD80 if you like the old steam guage and the pre fancy FMC stuff.

My boyfriend purchased this aircraft in hopes to use the pilot / copilot feature as we are both avid flight simmer's. The aircraft from what he says is really nice and detailed. He seem's to really enjoying flying it. You can even overheat you breaks! The problem is, for us to fly together we would have to purchase another full package around $90 can. That is far too much money just for that. I'm not a big fan of product's that you can purchase and only install on one system and have to call them to re install on another. It's too bad, because we would have purchased the second one for a reduced rate, but they wouldn't go for that.

also...Level D Forum's are for product owners only?, they will not be getting my cash.ditto

CPU: Core i5-6600K 4 core (3.5GHz) - overclock to 4.3 | RAM: (1066 MHz) 16GB
MOBO: ASUS Z170 Pro |  GeForce GTX 1070 8GB | MONITOR: 2560 X 1440 2K

They do that so the pirates don't get free tech support. I can wholeheartedly recommend the LevelD767 without any reservations whatsoever. Seriously it's that good.

>also...>>Level D Forum's are for product owners only?, they will not be>getting my cash.>>dittoNo No, your quite wrong there.....................You are allowed to use the 'Public Forum' without registering and any question you have can be answered there. As for 'Product Support' you will have to register and that can only be done by purchasing the product.Sounds okay to me. Why should it be any different?

One other late breaking question... this flight1 package called "Ultimate Airliners The "Ultimate" Super 80 Simulation" looks extremely cool. Im partial to the steam gauges and blue panel too. http://www.flight1.com/products.asp?product=uas80Between the MDMax Super 80 package, and this ultimate Super 80 simulation...which one to get?Eric

I won the mdmax md-80, I would definatly buy it. I use it more than any other aircraft, next in line is the lds 767. It is superb as far as realism. I wonder just how many people know what epr is supposed to behave like, it is a very accurate measure of engine power than most developers dont get right, mdmax has very realistic epr simulation, epr can be rising and n1 could be decreasing. The flight model is great, its a bit tough to land due to the nose high pitch, but with a cog much lower than most planes its bound to fly somewhat different, it offers a nice challenge. For once you have to actually manage the cockpit, watch the air psi for anti ice system use, if not deiced the airplane will crash, or you may lose an engine or experience lock ups. The hyd system is another area where this plane really shines, the systems are all linked, it is really a work of simulationa art. And dont forget the brakeing action realted to runway surface, I wonder if we'll even see that in fsx I am definatly a very happy coustomer, if you aspire to simulate a day in the life of an md-80 pilot, this plane is for you, the price is high, but definatly justifiable
