Currently running 1920*1080 (2073600 pixels) with an i7-4770K and 1080 GTX. Performance in P3D v3.4 is great.

I've just bought a 27" BenQ 2560*1440 (3686400 pixels) for photo work but I'm going to link it to my P3D machine and run a fps test slewing slowly from London City to Heathrow.

I'll then link my PC up to my 55" UHD OLED and run the same test. I have a feeling the 1080 will cope pretty well.

I feel 2560*1440 is a sweet spot for P3D with a 77.7% increase in resolution over 1920*1080. But largest monitor for that res is 32". You then have to jump to 40" for smallest UHD monitor/TV. Pity there aren't any 36" QHD monitors.

The 1440p resolution still needs additional AA (4xSSAA, preferable 8xSSAA) do avoid shimmering/flickering particularly at night together with DL and/or Dynamic Reflections. I know, that's not only VRAM bound, but from my understanding, the 1070 is too weak for these settings.

Yes, the 7820X is a bummer coming from 3820, though I had to de-lid it for high o/c. I always preferred HED boards with quad-channel memory.

Harry,

No doubt about it, running SSAA at night w/DL is a drag, but I don't believe it's memory related, and if I recall correctly, even the folks running 1080Ti's report them being brought to their knees trying to do that.

Kind Regards,

I'm running a 6700k @ 4.8Ghz with a gtx1070

Display is a 34" ultrawide at 3440x1440

The ultrawide is really nice but I did see an FPS hit moving from 1080p recently. Still decent though.

34" ultra-wide @ 3440x1440 on a nice 1070Ti .  Ancient 3770K @ 4.2Ghz and I really am satisfied with the results.

4K with a 4770K @ 4.4 and 980ti using 49 inch UHD TV and 2XSSAA here plus a second 40 inch 4K monitor for ancillary stuff..  Minimal issues except when flying with dense overcast and REX SF - then the gpu maxes out.
