May 7, 20188 yr Yesterday I installed Aerosoft's SimStarterNG. It was a disaster. It produced all kinds of graphic problems including totally screwing up Orbx texture placement, so I uninstalled it, looking carefully for any hidden files left behind. (Yes, of course there were several)... But the problems continued. I thought maybe if I reinstalled it and got it to only do "default" tasks it might fix the problems it created. No such luck. I have used the FSX-SE "fixer" but it didn't make any difference. Obviously, the place to go to find a solution is the developer's website but to be honest, I haven't had the best of experiences there in the past. Any suggestions?
May 7, 20188 yr There is a Capt Pero forum on here or you could try the Aerosoft forum for support. He is usually quite helpful even if it is a day or so back to you. Simstarter is a brilliant program when you get it working. I had similar issues to you, a reinstall doesnt fix it as the changes that caused the issue seem to linger. My suggestions: Delete fsx.cfg or whatever it is called (Ive forgotten) run FTX central and ask it to run the unify scenery again (I think that is what it is called) See if that gets you back to default. It sounds to me like a scenery libary issue though, I would use SimStarter again and check the scenery librar6 entries are all there and in the correct order. Hope this helps! My problem was it just kept doing things I didn't want it to do like starting the sim when I didn't intend to in scenarios I wasn't wanting to open. I concluded it was an app for more technically sophisticated folks then me so I uninstalled it and had to do a complete reinstall of FSX Steam to correct. That was when I decided to jumped to P3D so that was the only good thing to come from it. It can certainly turn into a 1000 pond gorilla inside your sim if you don't understand what your doing. I much rather do my own twerking and add-on starting . Vic green
May 7, 20188 yr Author Glad to hear I'm not the only one. I have uninstalled it again (including all the hidden files) and changed my fsx.cfg file to a previously backed up one. I've only had time to try a couple of flights and they seem okay but I'm not sure I'm out of the woods yet.
May 8, 20188 yr It is a bit tricky to set up the first time around - I remember being in the same situation as you and went back to default but second time around it was brilliant when I figured out how to use it. It makes quick flight setup much easier, loading all the necessary add on programs etc. Hope you have another crack at it soon. May 8, 20188 yr Hands down the best add on I have . Used every flight Cant imagine losing the control it gives me and such a powerful program. Yes as mentioned it takes some time to understand how it works but eventually every thing "clicks" and there is no turning back 👌 ZORAN

Been using it for over 2 years now and never an OOM, different configurations for tubes, GA, fast military and total control of scenery activation depending on chosen flight area. Its worth persevering with. Once you get it set the way you want then you’ll wonder how you ever managed without it. Best regards Rupert
May 8, 20188 yr I too have been using SimStarterNG for a couple of years and indeed use it for every flight as I find it excellent. When I first installed it, I already had a lot of Orbx scenery on my system and I didn't encounter any texture or other issues related to this. I did however feel that the installation manual was a bit unclear and confusing in places and as a result the initial setup took some time and also required some contact with Capt Pero over at his forum on Aerosoft. Support from Capt Pero, although very much to the point, was prompt and helpful. Although it is probably not relevant, I notice that both the users on this thread reporting issues have been on Steam whereas I use it on plain old FSX. Bill

May 8, 20188 yr And I had the same problem with boxed FSX + Acceleration. After SimStarterNG had forced me to do two full re-installs of FSX, I decided that life is too short for this - I can live without it. Dugald
May 8, 20188 yr Author I really appreciate all the feedback - both positive and negative. I have no doubts at all that it is a good program - Aerosoft would have taken it off the market long ago if all it did was mess up people's system like it did with mine. At the moment, after trying it twice, I have once again removed it and spent hours fixing all the problems it left me with. I plan to leave it uninstalled for now. As a university professor, I have most of the summer off so I've decided to make it a project when I have those long, hot and humid days that my area is infamous for and will be staying inside in the air conditioning. I will have time to read the manual more carefully and correspond with the mysterious "Capt Pero" and see if I can overcome the negative experience. It really helped me a lot to hear from several of you that you had similar problems at first and then overcame them so I know it's not my system or the way I have FSX-SE configured. But I will certainly be making back up copies of a lot of files that got corrupted before I give it that third try. Thanks guys - this is a great example of how our community works together Ian
