FSX Freezes every flight.
Yes. I've got the same addons and they run well. Just make sure they are all patched up to latest versions. I moved to FSX:SE a while ago and I find it more robust on my somewhat old system. Very rarely crashes and if it does it's usually because I've enabled too much scenery. The only adddon I haven't been able to transport from Boxed to Steam is an old C130 transporter. Rupert

FSX-SE Menu Freeze only happens when using multiple monitors.
I had a similar problem with my dual monitor setup: crashed when I clicked anywhere on secondary monitor. The fix which worked for me was to edit the fsx.cfg file by commenting out the Display.Device lines (eg //[DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce GTX 730.0]) and letting fsx rebuild these settings when next launched. Once you're happy and everything is working again then you can delete the lines which you commented out. Hope this is helpful. Rupert

FSX config resets LOD and Max Texture loading
Hi Bob I don't use DX10 Fixer but I recall that the Max Texture Load is reset by FSX if you change any of your FSX settings via the Settings pages. Perhaps you've changed another Aircraft, Weather, Scenery setting and that's why your cfg parameters have been reset? Hope this might help. Regards Rupert

!Pls Help! Blury textures with FTX OpenLC Europe
There is a known problem with some ORBX LC installations after a recent FTX Central update. Perhaps there's nothing wrong with your settings? Lots of threads on this and ORBX forum worth checking out. This doesn't really help find a solution for you but I hope it helps insofar as it might not be anything which you've done to your system. Best regards Rupert

Words on FSX scenery
I had the same problem and the ORBX forum told me that these words are part of the FSX tile coding attributes. I use FTX Global and a simple reinstall was all that was needed to fix it. Logically, if you're using a third party scenery add-on then you might want to think about reinstalling. Hope this helps. Rupert

FTXC2 reverting backwards
Well, it's reassuring to know that I haven't messed up my own sim - I think. The new automatic regions mode didn't display the correct scenery at all. Updated (reverted) tonight to FTX2 and old libraries - scenery a mess now. There's just tiles and tiles of repeating rubbish with no sense to it at all. I guess somethings gone wrong with the new setup. I'm content to be patient and await ORBX's responses when the forum and servers are back up: I'm sure they'll throw everything they have at resolving this for us. To be fair, its the first time ever for me that ORBX updates haven't gone well so I'm prepared to give them some time to sort it out for us. Here's hoping it wont be too long! Regards Rupert

What are your favorite UK2000 airports?
Hello Lee Ref post #29 - would you be able to provide more information on the disabled files please? I cant find the right thread on the FTX forum. Thanks Rupert

What are your favorite UK2000 airports?
GA Airfields are definitely worth having. They are of excellent quality and just increase the immersion level. If you do a lot of GA flying then you'll love them. Rupert

What are your favorite UK2000 airports?
Post #3 rightly suggested Edinburgh for its great location. Of course, just to the west is Glasgow too. Both UK2000 versions are just magnificent. If you want to do a bit of short haul or even GA flying then either Edinburgh or Glasgow will do just fine. Both take scheduled Q400 flights so you can be simming realistically. Whatever you buy - you won't be disappointed. UK2000 airports are superb and the customer service is top class. I also like Playsims Ultimate Alicante - nice part of Spain's Costa Blanca and you can fly almost anywhere from there, Rupert

Where is the NE Scenery Layer?
May I ask for some help and guidance please with my newly purchased Night Environment British Isles v1.71 for FSX:SE? I installed NE, setup the default preset in Configuration Manager v1.2, launched FSX:SE and I'm not at all sure that I see NE effects appearing. I also run ORBX FTX Global, Vector, Land Class and the ORBX scenery packs for Scotland, Wales, etc. I've read some forum contributions which talk about NE insertion points in the scenery files but I can't see any entry for NE in my scenery files in either the FSX:SE configuration screen or in FTX Central 2 Tools. Is anyone able to advise what I'm doing wrong please? Or have I completely misunderstood how to set up NE? For information - the BGL files are all in C:\Steam\steamapps\common\FSX\aerosoft\Night Environment - British-Isles\Scenery but when I try to add the scenery manually in FSX:SE it tells me that no items match my search - and that's after following an AVSIM video on how to add manual scenery entries. Thanks in anticipation, Rupert

possibly moving to FSX-SE, have ?'s
Charles I moved to FSX:SE on Win7 and then upgraded to Win10. I've had no problems whatsoever and I am pleased with FSX:SE. I can vouch for QW146 Avro and RealAir Legacy V1 - both working without a hitch on FSX:SE / Win10 and no mods required to get them going. As with Post #5 - ORBX all seamless without any problem. I cant think why you wouldn't go to FSX:SE - I asked the same question of this forum a year ago and now wonder why I was even worried! Its been a good experience for me. Good luck with whatever you decide. Rupert

CTDs After Upgrading to Windows 10!
Terry I know the message! I run a dual monitor setup: one for FSX:SE flight window and one for any undocked window which I want - ATC, GPS, MFD, PFD, etc. I got the same error message frequently until I noticed that my "Settings - Display" device specific options were set differently for "Filtering". When I configured both devices to have the same filtering settings I never got another crash. Hope that might help you resolve this or to investigate a bit more. Rupert

Looking at a new add-on purchase
Like the profile picture! I too am a real-life motorcyclist - nothing to beat it on the ground. Your post #13 nailed it really. I rarely fly default FSX:SE aircraft and choose from iFly 737NG, RealAir Duke Turbine, A2A Skylane or feelThere Phenom 100 depending on how much time I've got and how much I want "procedures" or "flying". Twelve months ago I installed FTX Global, Vector and OLC and it transformed my experience. Then someone told me I must have ASN. How right they were. It's just a completely new sim with FTX and ASN together - way more immersive. With DTG's recent announcements you need to be sure you're investing in the right add-ons for the future and don't end up paying twice. Whatever you choose - welcome back! Rupert

CTD Using Orbx EU Scotland
Rick The order in your scenery library is worth looking at. I have UK2000 airports at the very top and above the UK2000 Common Library (which must be below UK2000 airports AFAIK). I've then got all my ORBX FTX, followed by OLC. I hope I'm not stating the obvious but the way to check or adjust the scenery order is in FSX:SE / Settings / Scenery Library. I would recommend that you check the UK2000 Common Library is definitely below the airports and that your ORBX is above the default FSX layers. ...and yes - Gary's work is fantastic and well worth the investment. Hope this helps. Rupert

CTD Using Orbx EU Scotland
Hi Rick So that you know you're not being ignored......I can't help with any advice on what might be causing your CTD but I've just flown the same approach successfully in several aircraft: RealAir Duke Turbine V2, iFly 737, Aerosoft Twin Otter Extended, JF A320. I'm using ORBX Scotland scenery too, although I don't have UK2000 Prestwick (I prefer UK2000 Glasgow!) Good luck with this one - CTD is so annoying when it happens. Rupert

Not a product, but your Fav?
Simming comment from me - sadly no PPL in real life. High wing single GA = A2A C182 Skylane with Accu-sim. Really immersive and needs careful management. Wonderful aircraft. Low wing single GA = Lancair Legacy. Really open cockpit, great views all round and just a joy to fly. Light Twin GA = Lancair Duke Turbine V2. Needs careful attention but rewards me with a really satisfying flight experience when landed. .. and of course, all of them have magnificent visuals! Rupert

Fed up with my download
Hi jetsmell Same experience - I feel your pain. I now use FlashGet for all my large downloads. Once you get used to how to use it, it's very good and very reliable. Been using for over 2 years now and never let me down. I can even interrupt a large download like ORBX Global, shut PC down, go out for something, come back home, start PC, start FlashGet and it'll carry on as if nothing has happened. I like it. Rupert

Just saying Hi
Thanks Elaine - I see where you're coming from but I didn't interpret that as a free trial. Always something new to learn in this! Best Rupert

Just saying Hi
Hi Scott I've always wanted to try P3D but never found a trial option. Just checked and cant see it - is there really a trial version? Thanks Rupert

An Addiction?
HI Tom No - you're not an addict but you are doing something that you really enjoy. I've been into FS for far too long but FSX with its longevity and add-ons just takes things to a whole new level (IMHO) than previous versions. Bad day at the office - set up an enjoyable flight in a good plane and presto - relaxed! All the add-ons mean that the escapism is quicker, the immersion is higher and the satisfaction of a good flight and/or procedure is more rewarding. I've got one of those add-on record spreadsheets too. I keep it for purchase dates, order numbers, version control etc. Yeah, its got purchase price on the end too but I tend not to look at that column too often. Looks like you've well and truly joined the club - you do know you'll never quite get over this flight slimming business?!?!?! Best Rupert

Pushback
Hi Jerry My FS2Crew (iFly 737NG) works by running the CFG button from the main bar. When you open that you get choices for how far to push back and whether its LEFT, STRAIGHT or RIGHT. If you are simply using FSX pushback then hit "2" immediately after "SHIFT+P" to go right and "1" to go left. Hope this helps - enjoy. Rupert

Which version to use
I was a little reluctant to move to FSX:SE for all the same reasons. My FSX Gold crashed for the umpteenth time, I got fed up with CTD's and bought FSX:SE in the sale last year. Never regretted it. Everything that I have works - and I mean everything: ASN, iFly737NG, RealAIr Duke Turbine, CS777, ORBX FTX Global, QW146, etc, etc. I had to look through a few forums for these addons to tweak small things like "Arm Spoilers" not working in the 737 but I got them all fixed through the forums. Been running Steam for 12 months now and NEVER crashed. I cant think of a reason for not moving - realty, I cant. Good luck with whatever you choose to do. Rupert

Fsx Steam Disappears
Afterburner I have performed the verification process on Steam twice in the last 10 months with no apparent change to any of my add-ons. In both cases I did it because I had simconnect problems arising from one particular aircraft add-on and in both cases it fixed my problem. I didn't see any obvious detriment to anything else. I'm not particularly tech-savvy but I don't think it changes any add-ons or re-writes any config files. Rupert
