Why should deinstalling a region cause any problems? Go ahead and deinstall it. If you want to test it before, you can just deactivate it in your scenery library.

I just did the same flight in the Q400, and turned sliders down lower than I have ever set them, still a slide show, and down to 550 Megs VAS  on final. I just uninstalled it. Not worth the aggravation. $40 lesson.

Is this with P3Dv4?   How much system mem and vidcard mem do you have?

I have not had a problem with FTX Central and now I'm running P3Dv4.3 I have most of ORBX installed, in FSX I new it was pointless to buy more addons as I was having to compromise for VAS in my settings, and I find it odd that FSX users complain when ORBX said that true earth scenery would not be ported to FSX, no matter what sim you run the more you throw at it the more it will affect performance, wait till XP users get 300GB of ORBX ported over.

I haven't had a problem with the FTX Central 3 download speeds in about a year now. Before that it was dog slow and I was glad I still had the FSS installers. I just downloaded and installed a few airports last night. I had a download speed of 100 Mbps and it only took about 5 minutes. I take advantage of the ORBX sales but I usually hold off on downloading until a few days after the sale is over. I'm in the Denver area on Comcast cable.

One other thing I found out the hard way about ORBX. You need to have plenty of free space on your OS drive as the download is temporarily saved there before it is installed. If you don't have more space available than the size of the download you will have problems with the download.

Pretty sure they changed this in a recent release, and you can now specify a temp directory.  (At work now and can't check.)   Regarding download stalls/aborts, I used to see those a lot.   Turning off the "beta" setting for parallel downloads solved that problem.  That may have been stabilized recently, too.

That's a good point. I believe unchecking that option helped me also. One area ORBX could use some improvement in is documentation. Just look at what has been covered in this thread. I have had to scour their multiple forums to find out how to do some things.

Bob (like myself) still uses P3D v3.4.
