August 14, 20187 yr I've flown this plane many times without problems, but on this flight of 300 miles the right engine cut out. All gauges were in the green, airspeed well below overspeed indicator, and the oil doors were fully closed. The annunciation panel pointed to oil pressure, but I can't identify what was causing the problem. Has anyone else encountered this problem or maybe have a solution? John

August 14, 20187 yr A spiking condition lever axis will shut down the engine if it goes to 0, even just for a fraction of a second. The oil pressure could be a result of the shutdown instaed of a cause. August 14, 20187 yr I have experienced this quite often in the past The advice I have followed (which seems to avoid the problem) is to always start up with a default aircraft before switching to the Duke. UK P3DV5 and Xplane 11 SimmerPilotEdge I11, CAT11, A-Z (ZLA), A-Z (WUS) System details: Gigabyte P57v7 CF2 17.3" laptop. Kaby Lake i7 7700HQ CPU (averaging 3.4mhz). August 14, 20187 yr John, I assume that you are talking about the Real Air Turbine Duke? I've flown this aircraft a lot and used to get a similar situation. It was always the starboard engine that went - quite dramatically with oil spread all over the engine nacelle! I actually spent a lot of time talking to Rob Jones about this problem and we never really came to a conclusion. The only thing that I would say is that opening the oil doors was a standard part of my pre engine start routine. I never flew with them shut so I would suggest opening the oil doors before starting the engines and leaving them open until you land. Even so this is still one of the best aircraft around for FSX and I guess the other one as well! The loss of Real Air was understandable and I hope both Rob and Sean are well. Incidentally it is still possible to get hold of some, but not all, of Real Air aircraft. There are certain aircraft that are available in CD form - I have bought the Spitfire recently and the SF-60 both from a reputable source - one of the biggest flight sim providers in the UK. So if you hanker for the best aircraft with a fan on the front try searching around! All the best and hope you get a solution, because as I still fly the Duke I would be interested to know what you find out. Malcolm Wright
August 14, 20187 yr Another one here where that use to happen, my solution was to keep torque, ITT and NG in the green arc all the time and fly with the oil doors open. Since doing this I've not had an engine failure, although they were a bit challenging at times. There was a two page document posted sometime ago called "Turbine Duke V2 Flight Operations" , which has some really useful information regarding various settings, I think it was here at AVSIM? It may be two images, one for each page. The files are formatted to fit on 5.5" by 8.5" paper, which is an 8 1/2 X 11 sheet of paper cut in half. Fits then on a small clipboard. For my use I put the two pages back-to-back and embossed them in plastic. They can also be put on a smart phone or tablet and referenced that way during flight.
