B733, 734, 735 - which one??

Featured Replies

I bought the PIC 737 set, but I am very disappointed in the look of the aircraft, they are way off. The panel is nice but an fps killer. I then went to the 50 North 737s. They look great, they've got the right shape. They don't kill the fps and I put this nice freeware panel from Ps Panels with it. Game over.E-mail me when you get it and I'll e-mail you my settings for great wing views.http://www.pspanels.co.uk/freeware_projects.htmLee

Erick Cantu has made very good freeware 732s,733s, and 735s. Many, many paints available, too. Simply search here at AVSim for Erick Cantu, or 737. There's also a number of good sound files and panels that can be added.Bob

Just FLight's 737 is superb. I cannot fault the panel, but then again I don't use the exterior views that much (except when reviewing, when I look in all the places that only sad people like reviewers look :-) - inside the gear bay, in the APU inlet, at the engines fans, between the flaps and the wings [you'd be suprised at how many models have flaps that float in mid air, with no attachemnt to the wings!] et cetera!)The panel, however, is brilliant. It replicates the 737perfectly and looks GREAT!

Just FLight's 737... :-hmmmI'm thinking this is the boxed version of the Wilco PIC737...Anyway displays are very customizable in the PIC737 giving much better performance if you take the time to adjust them. The Wilco 737PIC is very detailed system wise and basically is the best version of the 300/400/500 series you can get in FS2k4. Some don't like the VC textures but how old and often flown are these jets these days??? You can't go wrong with the PIC737 (great FDE, great systems modeling, etc). :-)

The PIC 737 have the wrong fuselage and nose shape, 50 North beats them hands down. It's simple just look at them. If PIC was freeware I would say nothing, but since they charge a lot, the gloves come off. They should fix it.Lee

I have been using the FFX/SGA 737-200/300/400 series for 2-3 years now and find them to be excellent. I have about 40 to 50 different liveries among the three types of model. The flight dynamics are really good except for the spoilers which are like barn doors (!). But they look good, with adequate (or more) exterior detail, are well finished with a lot of nice colors and textures, and they fly really well, especially hand-flying. Hand landings are a joy, you can land with great accuracy and a very low and stable VS. They are very light on frames and visually fluid all the time in SPOT view.I have modified the flight dynamics slightly to permit BOEING book N1 and fuel burn that are remarkably accurate. For panels, I use entirely versions of the Boeing 737-200/300/400 panels by Luis da Costa Pereira. After searching around endlessly about 3 years ago, and trying a dozen different 737 "classic" panels by well-known names, I found his panels to be the best: exceptional, colorful, with character and atmosphere, crammed with detail and functionality, and very easy and reliable to operate with the default MSFS autopilot. His -200 panel in particular has a really old style autopilot which I love. His -300 and -400 panels amazingly have "DRAG REQUIRED" annunciations when your speed is + or -10 knots from the MCP SPD window--truly wonderful and a treat. The overhead panel is hugely detailed and highly functional too. The impact of the panel on frames is negligible.I am so happy with my 737 "classic" fleet and feel I have a customized "collection" of my own that is outstanding. And free !JS

Sorry, the DRAG REQUIRED lights up if you are flying too FAST only (!). So if you're descending at IAS 290 and your MCP SPD is set to 270, DRAG REQUIRED will light up on the forward panel.JS

But the Fifty north is just a nice model that uses the default 737 FDE.The PIC737 at least has great systems includine an FMC and also a VC.Do you just sit and look at the outside of your 50 North or do you fly it?.

I have bought the PIC 737 and all I can say is: fantastic! The panel is probably the best one for FS ever made, frames are very good. The only negative point for me is that the model isn't very good, but the FDE is ;)For further information: Read the Avsim Review.Regards,Mariusclassic3.jpg

Do a search here at Avsim for Scheffel. This plane has features none other has. Yes, there is no VC and no FMS, but it does have so many great things that make you feel like you are there flying a 737 with people! The automated checklist will help you start the plane from cold and dark without a cheat sheet. The pilot and co pilot "do" the cheklist verbally as you click the switches. The stewardess brings coffe or soda. There is a movie showing in the cabin.....More than I care to type here... I think this should give you enough to make you want it. Arjan Scheffel just won the Flightsim Developer's Award for this plane. The plane itself is a rework of the FFX Cantu design so you can use those repaints if you like. Hope you find what you are looking for, I did.God bless,Earl

I think the 50North series is one of the most accurate shapes I've seen, they are superb. I fly them with the PIC737 panel and it's just an awesome combination. The panel is the best I've seen and it's smooth on FPS..you'll need to adjust a few things.Best regardshttp://www.onlinesimulationsolutions.com/sigs/dhosssig.jpgDownload my files here in AVSIM:http://library.avsim.net/search.php?CatID=...&Go=Change+View

Daniel, could you share with me how you merged the PIC737 panel with the 50North aircraft and what you need to adjust, Thanks much, Bob McDuff

for the merge...drop me a line [email protected] PIC737 has a startup utility, go to the "display" tab and there are options for your EHSI and PFD also, in the panel by adjusting the brightness of the screens.I have an average system, maybe a little "underaverage" and I get solid 20 fps (high density sceneries will drop to 13-17) I normally avoid high density sceneries. My system specs are:P4 2.0 GHZ1 GB DDRATI RADEON 9550 256 MBHD SEAGATE BARRACUDA 80 GB 7,200 RPMSee...not the greatest system and I love that combo!!! :-)Best regardshttp://www.onlinesimulationsolutions.com/sigs/dhosssig.jpgDownload my files here in AVSIM:http://library.avsim.net/search.php?CatID=...&Go=Change+View
