Upgraded from eVGA 1080TIs SLI to the OEM Preorder RTX2080 TI, also in SLI.

Marginal 3-5fps improvement in V4.

Until P3D engine gets further optimization the benefit from SLI 1080s to SLI RTX's is minimal.

Will be interesting too see with 4.4 released soon if the graphics engine takes more advantage or the new capabilities to extra more performance.

Is 8GB VRAM good enough for 1024 textures now that we all know P3D4.4 has that option

probably not...especially at 4k

My setup is excellent.

Run a 27" Dell TFT over DP at 1440p SLI RTX2080TIs. Soon to be a 30" also at 1440.

Both my C drive and P3D with its own drive each have their own NVME m.2 Samsung 2TB 960 Pros.

32GB G Skill Flare X v2 3200mhz DOCP set memory at 14CL.

Ryzen Theeadripper 2990WX SMT OFF at 4GHZ.

And my settings arent maxed out in P3D.

Cutting edge software takes full advantage of the hardware. P3D does not. But I knew that already has someone who uses the power primarily for development.

It's a shame P3D isn't more optimised. We'll see how 4.4 is.

I can't imagine the 2080 looking better than my 2x 1070's.  Got one coming still.

Cheers

I have 3 views, water at Ultra, clouds/terrain shadows distance at Max, and Clouds DD at Max

Typically Water at Ultra will down-clock the graphics card (reduced P-State), at least it does with my GTX980Ti.
Have you monitored your card to see that this is not happening?

gb.

Yes, no downclocking. Also with 1 1080Ti there was no downclocking.

P3D is not DX12 or ios that wrong, RTX is better in DX12 but not 40%.in DX11 10% max.more like 5%

Tested a Galaxy 2080TI Hof goc edition have same goc ed 1080TI x4.

if we lock at SLI in firestrike extreme and ultra DX11 the diff to 2080TI x2 vs 1080ti is approx 5%

for now with my setup i go for 1080TI SLI the single 2080TI is to weak for me have a second 2080TI in jan.

my result in firestrike 1080TI x2 SLI ultra 15700 and extreme 28100 firestrike is DX11 (watercooled customloop) , google 3dmark hall of fame be aware that top scores is with LN2

Well both my Founders Edition RTX 2080 TIs died last night. Was in P3D, screen went all of a sudden black and both fans on the GPU went on 100% screaming. First ever GPU to die on me.

Computer unresponsive. Every restart 30 sec in, screen comes on then black screen a d full fans. Removed SLI bridge and put each in their individually same issue so these things are shot.

Got a top tier corsair 1600W PSU so it's not that, all else in good order.

Was hoping it wouldn't happen to me but as an original preorder sounds like I got 2 of the earlier bad batches so widely reported by many. pretty bad quality control on NVIDIA's part.

In recent days leading up to this my frames had take a 5-10 fps dive so I knew something was up.

Cards are just 9 weeks old.
