I wonder if its possible to somehow include scenery with the mission, so that any custom scenery a mission needs is automatically installed.I find with FS9 installing freeware addons is a bit of a pain (shutdown FS, winzip/copy/paste, open FS, add to libray, shutdown then restart etc)I hope that in FSX (for the sake of the novice users) the installation of missions/scenery will be a lot easier.

>First, thanks Bill for the good wishes. I found myself>reacting in kind to a lot of negativity around here and wanted>to look at the brighter side of things.I can see a great use for the "Mission System" to create tutorial series for both payware and freeware releases of complex systems.Imagine having a fully interactive tutorial explaining the ins and outs of say - programming an FMC - instead of simply dry reading of a printed "script!" :)Or a tutorial flight from cold and dark to arrival and shutdown, with "voice instruction" from your friendly virtual CFI...

Using, of course, interesting methods with the trigger system."Ok, now pull back slowly on the yoke"(Trigger activates)"No, no, that's the throttle. Try again"

That's an awesome idea!

Few questions for tdragger or anyone else who might know:1) what level of control over the AI planes will we have. I see that we can script them, but does that mean we could do a scenario where you do formation flying?2) Will there be any sort of support for multiplayer cooperation in missions, i.e. go on shared skies and have two people working together to complete a mission.3) this is more for the community at large. A friend had suggested a mission where a civilian plane has entered a restricted airspace, and you scramble in fighters with your wingman to intercept and escort to a landing. He felt, however, that a mission like that might actually get a negative reaction from more sensitive people. I didn't really track with him on it, and wanted to get your input. Thanks,Brian

Hi,> 1) what level of control over the AI planes will we have. I> see that we can script them, but does that mean we could do> a scenario where you do formation flying? That would be really cool. I'm sure if it's not there as standard, someone will come up with a way of doing it.> 3) this is more for the community at large. A friend had suggested> a mission where a civilian plane has entered a restricted airspace,> and you scramble in fighters with your wingman to interceptWould work well with option 1. I can't imagine too many people being upset; look at the number of military planes available for FS9 as addons, and AI. Perhaps going up with the intention of attacking the plane would raise some hackles, but finding it and then staying with it would seem like a fairly harmless thing to do.Cheers,Jim

I wonder if it would be possible to use the mission for a No Gyro Radar approach...Hmmm... that would be neat.Turn right....stop...turn left...stop....turn left....stop....turn right....stop...descent to 500feet... turn right..stop ...turn left...... and then you see the runway in front of you.:)MannyPS: come to think of it...in a two player environemnt.. if one person is the air traffic/tower controller, he/she could give the commands for the No gyro radar approach guidence too.

Inclimate weather, preset failures of the directional gyro, triggers for when you hit a certain altitude or heading. I like it.

I did one in the Seneca at Waco, TX. They have a radar approach over there.Oh I thoroughly enjoyed it... I was in a perpetual...S Turns....but I did manage to get close to the runway. It was a hoot. The Tower controller enjoyed it too. Without an Attitude indicator and directional gyro..... just looking at the turn coordinator and trying half standard turns.... and focusing on his commands.... is...challenging. :)Manny

I did a real one at kjxn when I lost my vacuum in imc many years ago...I think this and all kinds of real emergencies should be able to be "missioned"-making the missions one of the more "serious" features of the new sim.http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg

You might find this interesting:http://www.aopa.org/pilot/never_again/"Let me help you out. You're cleared to taxi any way you can to any runway you see."
