January 3, 20197 yr Author That is not the kind of tutorial that I am looking for. I would like a tutorial that basically walks me through the FMS input procedure, setting up the autopilot, and then a short flight. Just like the PMDG 737 NGX Tutorial Flight #1. January 3, 20197 yr There are many tutorials on the FMC on the older version of the CS757 on YouTube. Here is one - Video removed as it was from an early version of CS757 in Jan 2018 when bugs were found in the FMC. Those have now been corrected. Do not want to show a video of old bugs. January 3, 20197 yr Author Thanks for the attempt, Jim. However, I prefer printing PDF tutorial documents, so that I can walk myself through the procedure step by step. This is very difficult to do with video tutorials. January 3, 20197 yr Christopher, try Chuck's Guides. It's for the XP 11 757 but may provide what you want. Robert Robert Chartoff
January 3, 20197 yr Author Do I need to set the "pressure altitude" in the 757? This needs to be done in the PMDG 737 NGX (overhead panel), but it is automatic in the 747 and 777. I think that I have worked out the flow in the FMS to set up a flightplan with the fuel/weight/speed/trim etc. settings, and the MCP is almost identical to the PMDG Boeings. What I do not seem to be able to find is where to set the barometric pressure. Any help in that department would be gratefully received EDIT: Ah, that 757 tutorial guide from Chuck is pretty good! I think I can now determine where I need to set the landing altitude, and the barometric pressure. January 3, 20197 yr Author OK, two more questions...... Is THR mode effectively TO/GA? If not, how do I set TO/GA? How do I set the radio altitude for minimums? There's a little box next to the upper eicas that has different buttons (TO/GA, D-TO1,D-TO2 Temp/flex and CLB) You can click on those and the info about sel thrust will be shown on engine display, just a bit like in the md-80 My system specs: Core 2 quad Q9650 @ 3.51ghz, GTX1060 6gb, 8gb ddr3 1333, 1Tb seagate barracuda, 500gb wd blue
January 3, 20197 yr Author I see that the THR button on the MCP in the XP11 Flight Factor 757 (Chuck's flight guide) is actually the EPR button on the Captain Sim 757, but I am still in the dark as to whether this has anything to do with TO/GA. When I am about to accelerate down the runway, do I click the TO/GA button on the panel? When I am about to accelerate down the runway, do I click the TO/GA button on the panel? What I do is engage the EPR on takeoff. Once gear is up, I engage AP and LNAV/VNAV. The EPR should stay on. It has to be on as the engines will spool too high. Sometimes I'll see the speed window still open and that should be closed once the FMC takes over control. The EPR will go off by itself. January 3, 20197 yr When taking off I spool the engines up to about 50% N1, then engage EPR, then push the throttles full forward. Similar procedure to the 737NG but using the EPR button in place of the TOGA switch. January 4, 20197 yr Author Pressing the EPR button does not seem to be doing anything for me, which is why I would really like a step by step "PMDG style" tutorial flight. In addition, the aircraft seems to be jumping between SPD mode and VNAV mode on a regular basis. In the PMDG airliners, I can have VNAV enabled at all times, and still have full control of SPD mode. January 4, 20197 yr Author Further testing has revealed that I need to press the TO/GA button before take off. Only then will the EPR button work when pressed. I also noted that the entire simulation was being paused halfway through my test circuit.....until I realised that this was because of a "Pause at Top of Descent" setting in the FMS! To be fair, I think that I have seen this in the PMDG settings, but it must be disabled by default. On a side note, is there a way to get all of the normal altitude callouts enabled? I am also getting a "TERRAIN" message just after take off. Is that a bug? January 4, 20197 yr Interesting, I didn’t think you had tonpress TOGA first, maybe that’s just muscle memory and I’m doing it without realizing. Does the terrain warning happen every takeoff? My last departure in the 757 was from KEGE and i heard it but it was well warranted in that case. Side note, taking off from KEGE fully loaded with pax and ski equipment for a longish flight to the east coast is probably the most fun you can have with a 757, full TOGA takeoff, steep climb and turns required right after departure. January 4, 20197 yr Author It seems to be playing the Terrain warning every time, but then I have only been circuit testing at one airport so far (Runway 34 departure at EGPD Aberdeen).
