Gents,

P3D is an actively-developed sim. As it evolves, the planes that go into it will evolve, too. That's partially the point, and it's the expectation of the market segment that P3D is aimed at. A choice to participate in that market segment means that you will have to either:

  1. Freeze your configuration - keep your sim static, and your add-ons static; or
  2. Update everything, together, following the procedures outlined by each add-on dev.

The latter really isn't that scary, or awful, provided you take your time, read the instructions, and execute them appropriately. Nobody needs to be on the bleeding edge of things, so I'm not making that argument. All the same, you can't have your cake and eat it too. If you want safety, then keep the safety of a stable, unchanged system. If you want the features, then update things with care and you'll be fine.

The common reasons for P3D not working after an update are covered by their instructions (not running the "delete generated files" routine, but also occasionally not updating FSUIPC, etc.). Back in the day, we had to essentially nuke the entire sim, start fully over, and waste hours reinstalling everything, and still have to tweak things as we went. Now, you have an update path that takes only a few minutes, particularly if you're careful to follow the instructions.

I am completely baffled by the progress in the community that people so readily reject as a "problem" because it didn't go perfectly, usually because instructions weren't followed. Take a moment to look at how awful things actually were only a handful of years ago. Now, we have the opportunity to embrace new features with very, very little risk and time invested. Given a little care in the process, it'll all work out just fine, too.

Okay, I have managed to update P3Dv4 from 4.3 to 4.4, but the QOTSII is still not loading. Other PMDG aircraft such as the 737NGX, etc all load okay. Why just this particular aircraft after that Push Update for the QOTSII? Black panels, but none of the previous 'Initilaizing.........'

So, what advice next, PMDG or anyone with the latest Update up and running?

Submit a trouble ticket Rick.  Working directly with PMDG rather than thru a user forum is more efficient.

Will do, Dan. In fact, rather than troubling them via a Support Ticket with their hands full already, I thought perhaps I have done something wrong in updating as you so kindly advised to 4.4, and some wizard here would spot it and advise accordingly.

if  you  updated   correctly  and  when  in  sim  checked  the  help if  it  matches  everything  than  you have  updated  to  4.4  correctly.

my  version  when I click on help is 4.4.16.27077

sim connect  version                    4.4.00

if  this  what  you  have  got  than  you  got  it  installed  4.4

I  only installed  the client  and  content   not  scenery  though  my  guess  its  your  sim connect is at issue  here

Installed exactly as per  your figures including scenery.

But not to worry, as I have submitted a Ticket. I am sure we'll get there in the end. No big deal. I can wait.

To be clear, you must have 4.4 - AND - install the latest 744 update.

Yes he did. The issue was due to panel state.
