Hi Mike,

I'm going with HDR off for now.  HDR off fixes the problem that I was having.  We will see.    Good luck with this.  🙂   Let me know how it works out for you.

Nice plane but the soft cockpit is a big issue. Doesn't make a difference if I select HDR or not, 2018 vs 4096 all the same. Just not a very clear cockpit. It's like I have FXAA enabled which certainly isn't the case.

Gents, sorry to resurrect  this oldish topic but I've watched a video of this today and it's peaked my interest. My specs are in my sig plus I'm running at UHD so I imagine this aircraft and the G1000 will look the business. I know there is no response from the author for reasons unknown but as I have no medium term plans for moving to P3Dv5 this looks to be a really nice addon.

I'm assuming performance is not a problem with the G1000 display even at 4K. Things are fine with the PMDG737 in v4.5 and that includes multiple Ai from the AIG people. Less than half the price of the PMDG and much quicker to get started too!

Should work just fine. You have a good system. I,m using it with 1080p but my gpu is also weak.

Thanks Rick. The G1000 looks brilliant and is very close to the real thing. One question. Does it read your entire scenery files to generate the data for the map? I have FS Global mesh so would imagine the terrain map would be more accurate than if just the default scenery was scanned.

Good question , dont have a answer for that but it derives approach info from p3d info which for v4.5 will be quite old.

There’s a solution to that. I don’t have the link to hand but there’s a website with up to date freeware navdata that you can import into P3D replacing the original. I’ll dig out the link tomorrow.

I also have EFB v2 and using that I can generate a flight plan which includes SIDs and STARs that can then be exported into P3D. Nice feature.

Here’s the site I mentioned yesterday. https://aero.sors.fr/navaids3.html

It replaces out of date navigation data (BGLs) with new files. The old ones are renamed so the process is reversible if required.

What I’m trying to establish is how the Vertx DA62 uses its database. Does it scan your BGLs to create its own or does it use a supplied file that can only be updated with a subscription to FSAerodata?

I’d rather not have to subscribe to that service just for one aircraft as I already subscribe to Navigraph.

I think you need FS Aerodata subscription in order to get fully updated SID/STARS in the G1000.

It's been a good while since I used the DA62, but I think aero.sors (freeware version) was not sufficient....

I don't think this plane has had any updates since it was originally released - I would be wary of buying it at the moment as we have no idea if it would be supported in later versions of P3D for example. Sadly I think the wife of the developer had some serious health issues which is understandable regarding any updates etc.

(Assuming you don't already own it of course)

Are you sure? If you click on the link it definitely states ILSs are updated. They’re included in the Europe package but for other areas of the world a separate link is provided.

I could be wrong but this freeware data appears to offer the same as the FSAerodata but with a less user-friendly method required to install it.

@MattGarner, I haven’t bought it yet but still feel inclined to because I have no plans to move away from P3Dv4.5. I’m aware the developer hasn’t been around for 18+ months.

Any updates appear to be cosmetic rather than to fix anything broken so that doesn’t deter me. One thing I’m trying to establish is where the G1000 gets its navigation data from. Supplied file with the purchase so obviously very old or the ability to scan your BGLs which I keep up to date via that site I linked to.

Like I said I'm not sure, but all I know is that I purchased 3 cycles of FSaerodata for that specific reason.

Also if you read FSelites reader comments of their DA62-review (link https://fselite.net/reviews/vertx-da62-the-fselite-review/)

"FWIW, there is a freeware solution that does the exact thing Aerodata does, just not as efficiently.
https:// www.aero.sors.fr/navaids3.html

And response:

- It's not the same, the freeware one doesn't include SID/STAR which is the point the author was trying to make (you have a G1000 that can fly SID/STAR but you need fsAerodata to fly them)."

Best of luck!

@SAS443, That free option is the one I referenced. It would be odd if there was another. So I don’t mind updating the BGLs using that site rather than another subscription for a single aircraft.

Regarding SIDs and STARs that’s fixed for users of EFB v2. You can include them in your flight plan and then inject them into P3D which is then picked up by the G1000 as it is for any aircraft that relies on the GPS navigation mode.

So I think that clears the way for a purchase. I can’t imagine it would allow me to enter credit card details and not get a download link. That would have been mentioned already I’m sure.

It looks a brilliant aircraft and the G1000 will look great in UHD. More later. 👍

It is a good aircraft. G1000 is rather complete (though you will find some missing items if you know where to look). Haven't touched it since almost 2 years but it should still be a good addon.
