Is This True? I hope Not!

That "In spite of the glowing reports, traffic in FSX is currently limited to expressyways... i.e., roads with a center median."?If that is true it would mean that all other roads are completely empty so you won't see any traffic at all in country sides, and virtually zero road traffic in some other countries out there.Who can tell us for sure?

Those who know can't say, and those who say don't know. No different from any other FS beta-test.Doug

Well, here's what was posted in the FSX preview Part I:"The world is not a static place. 24 million roads have been accurately placed, and where there are roads, there is traffic. The roads come alive as the traffic is seen moving down the highways and roads below you. From rush hour to the quiet hours, the traffic volume is regulated by the time of day and your location, whether it is an urban sprawl or a rural country road. The headlights and tail lights are also included which should make for some very scenic night flying or evening approaches into major cities."I hope THIS is the correct info!

"The headlights and tail lights are also included which should make for some very scenic night flying or evening approaches into major cities."I am looking forward to that. It would be nice. Its much easier to upgrade night sceneries than day sceneries.... I think. Wehn I got Flight1 FS roads... Night flying became awesome for any part of the Unitied states. That simple upgrade took it another level. Now, Imagine tail lights and headlines on roads... I only wish..the roads would have standard directions boards and flyovers and that kind of stuff. Get the data from the raods... but use different high resolution rorad/highway textures. An addon for that would be great.Manny

In one of the early videos (from GameSpot I think) there was a 3 second cockpit clip of a helicopter off the coast of Hawaii and there was car driving along the road. I dont think it was a expressway, it looked like a small 2 lane road... but hard to tell.I really hope theres traffic on all roads, imagine flying into St Marteen and seeing some very light traffic passing on that little road in front of the runway. Even better if the traffic could actually halt when a plane is landing or taking off... but i dont think thats likely... maybe 3rd party addon?

I would assume that the above statement of traffic only on expressways is true. X-Plane just introduced a siilar system in their latest beta.It would cost way to much CPU cycles to simulate a fully functional road system.Just think about this: How dense will traffic be on country roads? I bet a country road in AZ is not as densely populated as in MD. Will they account for rush hours? What about stop lights? What about highway lighting? I think it is highly unrealistic to expect that we will see anything like accurate road traffic. It's minor feature, as far as I am concerned.Pat

they have said it's going to be time of day dependant, so rush-hour will be busier. I look forward to seeing somewhere like London in the rush-hour during winter, then flying out towards Stapleford Aerodrome and watch the traffic die away.

It's minor feature, as far as I am concerned. That (stop lights, signs, etc.) is precisely why traffic is limited to divided highways: there are no "crossing traffic" instances to worry about. ;)Around urban areas though, there's typically plenty divided roads to provide an adequate illusion of moving traffic.

I wonder if Hong Kong and other busy cities in Asia will have a lot of mopeds as in real life.

How many regions are there in FSX... i think 22? It would be nice if road traffic can be regionalised too.

23 autogen regions I think...Rhett

Is it really that big of a deal anyway? I know I'll probably look at the ground traffic for a couple minutes, say "thats neat", and then go back to flying an airplane.

And just think of all the complaints from kids in New Mexico who tried to find themselves driving over a backroad and couldn't...
