March 11, 20197 yr Some time ago, I had the Leonardo Maddog MD-8x series addon for FSX...the latest being a version made in 2010. The one issue that generally kept me away from flying it in favor of other high-fidelity add-ons was the autothrottles--they hunted back and forth incessantly during flight, and the sound of the engines constantly surging back and forth was like nails on a chalkboard. AFAIK, that problem was never resolved, and trying to get answers on the support forum was about as difficult as trying to contact departed loved ones via a Yellow Pages psychic. For those that now fly the current P3Dv4 release of the add-on, has this issue been resolved? Can it fly through all the phases of flight without constantly cycling the throttles? Is the automation, in general, stable? As a rule, I push the throttles up into the dead zone on A/T equipped acft to avoid noise and jitter on the hardware axes from bothering the autothrottles, but this issue was more of an unstable feedback loop that just couldn't find a good power setting to hold a speed. March 11, 20197 yr Commercial Member It's fully sorted in the P3Dv4. Best wishes! Dave Hodges System Specs: I9-13900KF, NVIDIA 4070TI, Quest 3, Multiple Displays, Lots of TERRIFIC friends, 3 cats, and a wonderfully stubborn wife.
March 11, 20197 yr I would say that not being able to hear the engines from the cockpit, I haven't noticed the engines hunting up and down. I have noticed the throttles and, it follows, the engine gauges constantly moving. I can barely hear the engines period. I have the sound add-on installed and use the loud engine configuration and still only hear a whisper. All that being said, this is one of my favorite aircraft. I'm looking forward to their upcoming update too. March 12, 20197 yr +1 on the sound pack.Wouldnt hesitate to recommend. Challenging and rewarding aircraft. Since it was one of the first glass jet liners she isn't as refined and intuitive as say the 737NG hence the maddog moniker. Vic green

March 12, 20197 yr Commercial Member For the 64-bit P3Dv4.4 version.... there have actually been several updated versions released, and we're currently testing the version with working ACARS, and this will go open beta soon if it hasn't already. The best site for answers regarding the Maddogx is the MaddogX forums. Lots of great information there! Best wishes everyone! Regards Hey Bob, Yeah, I know (I've been a part of the Leonardo team from the start). Also, I believe the person said they bought the MaddogX at initial release but hasn't updated it since. So all they have to do is register for the forums, but in this case I believe the person who asked is already registered. 21 hours ago, RichieFly said: I have it. Maybe there's been an update? I'll check. The MaddogX has come so far, so very fast, that it's barely the same aircraft that we saw at release! It's certainly one of the two finest models ever created for Desktop Flight Sim! The other (of course) is the Majestic Dash 8 Q400. Dave Hodges System Specs: I9-13900KF, NVIDIA 4070TI, Quest 3, Multiple Displays, Lots of TERRIFIC friends, 3 cats, and a wonderfully stubborn wife.
