FSX RELEASE SEP 19TH (AMAZON)

ACES spill the beans!!!

Online vendors may change release dates without neither further notice to customers nor responsibility for false release dates. Thus, I'm pretty much sceptical so far about this.I other hand, MS themselves have never EVER published the exact release dates - they just have mentioned something like "at the end of summer", "holiday", etc.

Rubbish. This is not a MS-provided release date. Amazon, like all vendors, would dearly love to take our money for a preorder. But, to do that, they need a release date. So, they make up a date which they will then change later when the actual release date is announced.Doug

Intel 10700K @ 5.1Ghz, Asus Hero Maximus motherboard, Noctua NH-U12A cooler, Corsair Vengeance Pro 32GB 3200 MHz RAM, RTX 2060 Super GPU, Cooler Master HAF 932 Tower, Thermaltake 1000W Toughpower PSU, Windows 10 Professional 64-Bit, 100TB of disk storage. Klaatu barada nickto.

Amazon did the same thing with Civ4. And the actual release date was quite different. ;)Rhett

even if it was an official release date MSFT has been chronically late with just about every major release over the past several years so betting on an on-time release for FSX would make an astute gambler cringe!(-:Not bashing MSFT. I actually kind of like them...just stating the facts. Jim

>> So, they make up a date which they will then change later when the actual release date is announced.I concur with this statement. I'm waiting on technology product that was suppose to be available for sale in April, only to be pushed back each month. Currently Amazon says it will be for sale in August. I expect another pushback on that date.Anyone that plans release dates based on what Amazon says is a fool. Also, didn't someone previously post a thread announcing Amazon quoting a release date? It was about a month ago.Bruce

Do yourself a favor and ignore retailer release dates...Retailers make "aggressive estimates" when it comes to games. Amazon is great for certain things, but I don't recommend pre-ordering PC Games from them. They are usually slower getting games out to customers. Stick with game stores like EBWorld, etc.

To hear the MS guys at the IFC conference here in Denver, you would think that FSX is still a year away :). Some features are in and then have been taken out, being worked on, may be back in- some are still at the conceptual stage as far as implementation are concerned- there's still lots of work ahead if FSX is to be released in any kind of workable form, I would say. I actually asked when they were going to lock the featureset, but didn't get an answer. I get the impression that some things are working well, while others are still far from being there.Bruce.

ASEL, Instrument.

KBJC, Colorado.

... and I for one hope they take as much time as they need to iron every thing out. I'd rather have a good sim than a good beta.Rhett

There's a MS press event re FSX in Redmond on 14th/15th this month. I suspect we will know all after this.

Amazon gets release dates from the distributor and from "estimates" from the vendor. Sometimes the date is just based on an educated guess (Late 3rd quarter, early 4th) and past releases. Amazon.com gets quite a few people calling in when something misses the estimated release date when there is no solid release date. It's nothing we can do, as the program is "done when it's done". Sure, they want to make money on pre-orders. As soon as it's released, be it Sept 19th or October 19th, the pre-order will be filled. But, if there is no solid release date for it, you'll see an estimate. Some release dates will show 2012. That's not an estimate. That would be a "it's coming, but we don't know when" date.

>There's a MS press event re FSX in Redmond on 14th/15th this>month. I suspect we will know all after this. They must have a lot to say for it to last two days! :-lol

The second day is the after-event party I guess :)

And they also list things they know they'll never be able to ship (and will happily let you add them to your shopping cart and confirm as an order).Had that happen a few times. Order a CD (for example) only for it to never ship and 6 months later get an email saying they've cancelled the order for being unable to fullfill it.On some further research I found that the record company had gone out of business 5 years prior...
