I tend to me more “neighborly” and talkative to the older folks as they are more old school and don’t have their face glued to their phone or headphones stuck in their ears listing to music. Younger folks in the teen and early 20’s don’t seem to interested to strike up conversations with random people I’ve noticed, at least where I live. When I first got my Apple iPhone I was going to the Sprint Store almost on a daily basis so they could teach me how to use it. I was completely baffled. But we got know each other and now I stop in there just to visit. When I talked about flying one of the young men said he was interested in becoming a pilot. I gave him my extra copy of FSX and now, six months later, he's on his way to flight school in San Diego. My latest project is trying to get them to read books. I brought a half dozen books over for them and if just one begins to enjoy reading I will consider it a mission accomplished. I like to hang out with young people. Several years ago when I was a volunteer at the wildlife refuge I worked with college students who were spending the summer out there working off student loans. Now I have my adopted grandkids at the Sprint Store. The only thing that bugs me about them are tattoos. I heard that Diogenes has given up on finding an honest man. He is now searching for someone between the age of 18 and 40 who doesn't have a tattoo. I guess it's today's badge of conformity. Noel The tires are worn. The shocks are shot. The steering is wobbly. But the engine still runs fine.

July 1, 20196 yr Fr Bill, most body piercings are disgusting. "May I ask, young lady, who leads you around by that ring in your nose?" Noel The tires are worn. The shocks are shot. The steering is wobbly. But the engine still runs fine.

Noel I’m out on tattoos as well, never wanted one for myself and never cared them on men and dislike them even more on women. My dad was on the USS Boxer (CV-21) and had a tattoo of it on his arm which was my first exposure to a tattoo when I was a kid. I also don’t have for piercings, except for on the ears a of women. My dad ended up a Senior Chief Petty Officer in the Navy prior to and for the duration of WWII. He never got any tattoos. He did tell me that he got ragged on by some of his fellow Chiefs for not having one. His reply always was "If the Navy wanted me to have a tattoo they'd issue me one!" Fr. July 1, 20196 yr Hi Folks, LOL - man - 9 years in the Navy - traveled all over the Pacific - been in tattoo parlors drunk off my ash with buddies getting tattoos in various ports of call - I thank my lucky stars I still had the common sense not to get one... I couldn't imagine having to live with something - now - that I might have thought was "cool" in my 20's... No regrets... Regards, Scott
July 1, 20196 yr I also marched into tattoo parlors with my Marine buddies back in the day. I came close but never got ''Death Before Dishonor" tattooed on my forearm. Or anything else for that matter. No piercings and no jewelry of any kind. I carry a pocket watch instead of wearing a wrist watch and don't even wear a wedding ring. That was agreed to before we got married. We exchanged rings and I wore mine for a day and then it went into a dresser drawer where it still is. I hate having things on my body. I always carried my dog tags in my pocket. I got called out perhaps hundreds of times for not wearing my dog tags around my neck. When told by an officer or ranking NCO to put them on I would do it until they left then they went back into my pocket. I did put them around my neck for inspections. I guess it's some kind of phobia. Noel The tires are worn. The shocks are shot. The steering is wobbly. But the engine still runs fine.
