McGuire Air Force Base, NJ, USA

Are you sure about that? If I type in McGuire Air Force Base, NJ, USA in Google Earth, it doesn't look anything like your finding?

"I think for most of this thread the comparison is between Bing satelite imagery and ingame pics."

What's the difference? Bing satelite pictures are from the real world 🙂

They're a representation of the real world unlike an actual photo from an airplane.

Just double-checked it and Google says it‘s called Lakehurst NATF. It seems to be part of the Joint Base McGuire–Dix–Lakehurst. So yeah, you‘re right, I was a bit vague.

Shouldn't there be a thread comparing in-game to real life?

The problem is that it isn‘t easy to find photos that show exactly the same as the screenshots. When I stumble upon a suitable photo I usually add it.

We could open an in-game vs real life thread after release. That might actually be pretty cool.

Might be something easier to do after Aug 18th.

Yes exactly. Much easier to find places from a photo in the sim than the other way round.

How do I actually insert an image into a post?

I use Imgur and I never had any problems. I simply copy the link into the post and that‘s it. Works like a charm.

Weird. I click on the image in Igmur, then I copy the link („direct link“) and then I paste it in my post. After a few seconds the image appears.

So, has anyone seen any shore or sea/reefs in-game, like what we saw in the trailers? And I am asking this question, because I haven't seen anything like this in the beta videos/testing. This beautiful small video shows what I am talking about and you can also see reefs and underwater textures/imagery in other trailers published by microsoft. There is transparency that doesn't exist in the beta.  https://streamable.com/bgpd8
I am a little bit concerned (and i hope that's not the case on release) , that there is a very intense "filter" or lack of transparency whatsoever in coastal areas. From what I've seen, there are two main "filters" for satellite imagery. The first one, is a "mask" for every single road and the other one is for the coastal/sea boundaries and lakes/rivers. The result is something very different from what we saw in the trailers and the tech videos. For example (image below) ,in an area were there are excessive turquoise waters and reefs, with very distinct textures below, the mask has no transparency and makes the scene totally different and "murky" looking.
I hope this gets resolved as the release comes closer or soon after that. It's such a shame to not be able to see the beauty of the Carribean, Bahamas, Greek islands, Hawaii, Oceania islands etc. _id1594375470_1406098.jpg

@Nick Prist it is often true that tech demos show capabilities that while can be done in the engine are removed for reasons of performance or bugs. I also hope that Asobo is able to add this back in at a later date if its missing on release.
