Looks like blackshark does a very good work at merging tiles

The greener parts in the top image is low zoom level imagery. Bing Maps only loads high zoom level imagery when you‘re relatively close. So it‘s not about merging tiles in this case.

Yea, I am also curious to see if OSM data is coupled with the Azure Data. OSM data features Windmills among othe elements. It all depends on the contribution level in a specific area.

I'm joining this thread late, having found this specific post in a search. I have heard "rumors" that OSM was used to help pick the autogen buildings used in MSFS 2020. I assumed that the reason FS placed an apartment complex where the local grocery store resides is because OSM hadn't been updated for my little backwater town, but to my surprise, OSM actually is quite nicely updated, including the clear identity of this particular building as a grocery store. This store is but one example of things that FS has messed up. So this begs the question, DOES flight simulator autogen use OSM data or not? Based on what I'm seeing, it seems like it doesn't.

BTW, I would be totally happy with autogen if it just put the right buildings in the right spots. I don't need photogrammetry to feel like I'm flying over my town, just give me the right TYPE of buildings. Heck, I'd be happy to identify all of these buildings myself on behalf of autogen if there was a way!

That is essentially what non-photorealistic, landclass-based scenery was/is all about. In my humble opinion then, simply supplying "the right TYPE of buildings" would be a step backward.

I don't understand your comment. Where I live there is no photogrammetry, so I only have autogen as an option. So when I'm flying over my town, I want to see flat roofs over my large grocery stores, not a bunch of peaked-roof apartment buildings.

Now if I someday have enough spare time, I'll drive around town with a camera and make custom buildings for downtown and the business "district", but in the meantime, proper type buildings is definitely a step forward to me until (probably will never happen) my little town is nominated for photogrammetry.
