September 3, 20196 yr I want to update the RXP GTN 750, but have no idea how to. I had a look at the f1 site, where the product came from, but as usual, that site is so full of "advice" I find it extremely unhelpful. Why can't they (f1) have a simple account page and we re-download the file? Maybe there is a page but i can't find it. I recall trying to download an update a few years ago, and that took much support, I have never bothered again. I don't want to re-download the entire GTN package if I can help it, as I recall the original download was ginormous. Any help will be appreciated to get updated for P3Dv4.5 Edited September 4, 20196 yr by RXP Geoff Bryce
September 3, 20196 yr Look in your Start menu under Reality XP. There should be an updater tool that you can run. Edited September 3, 20196 yr by DavidP David Porrett
September 3, 20196 yr Also, the original install included the Garmin Trainer which may not need to be updated.. in which case the download is actually quite modest.. Bert
September 3, 20196 yr @por930 To download the installers: http://reality-xp.com/ Whenever the products are updated there is an updater tool mentioned above through windows start menu. Edited September 3, 20196 yr by BillS511
September 4, 20196 yr Author Hi guys, thanks for the replies. I had looked at my start menu and did not see "update" etc However, following your posts, I re looked and eventually worked out that by clicking the Garmin GTN 750 650 item, it automatically finds your current version(in my case 2.5.10 and advises if there is a new version 2.5.19 and offers to update..%^&*fantastic. ...anyway..I did this, the rxpGTN-FS.zip was some 55MB, and yes Bert, quite modest compared to a full install. Not sure if the this latest install will also want an updated Trainer? Am I supposed to uninstall anything or simply install the new version, and it works out what to do with the previous setup. The manual does not seem to talk about updates? Geoff Bryce
September 4, 20196 yr I just run the update and let it overwrite - seems to work each time for me. I think that the GTN is compatible with most previous Trainers, although Bert, Bill or JL will correct me if I'm wrong. David Porrett
September 4, 20196 yr Author OK, tried that, but maybe because I said to update to the latest update for RXP, this has caused the machine to want to 'update' the trainer? with no availablity to update the GTN750 offered. So I backed out. Anyway, Looks like maybe the easiest for me is to uninstall RXP and all associated files, including trainer and start from clean install. Then never update P3D again, because it seems to cause a multitude of update issues for the various aircraft and their systems. I will dig further. Thanks for the help. Geoff Bryce
September 7, 20196 yr Well if you're speaking of P3D updates in general....when the sim is updated, it is normal for addons to not work. Many developers have to work to make patches...and typically RXP is one of them. The products all have to be updated. So when a P3D update is available, I would wait until all of the addons you own are updated before updating the main sim. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

I recall having to go though this dance once before and it was so painful tracking down my many aircraft, and utility add-ons that need updating, and then there are add-ons, like FSL, and WX Advantage Radar that trip up P3D load unless they are updated. I have now created an Excel list of my major and minor add-ons, and what their version number is, and in some sort of priority order for updates that i will check PRIOR to any P3D updates. BUT...more to the point, I will not update P3D once settled down again unless there is some thing very compelling that I want from P3D. Maybe P3Dv5?? Geoff Bryce
September 8, 20196 yr Maybe FS2020 hehe...it's looking incredible! If we can get RXP Gtn in fs2020 and other devs I'll be dropping p3d forever...and maybe xp11 too | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
September 8, 20196 yr Author You are not stirring are you???? Agree though, be great if FS2020 took off from the FSX days, without any of the subscriptions and Xbox mentality. With so many platforms now, developers will be made to choose which ones, unless they slow down development..or employ more people. We saw this when FSX was overrun with the growing X Plane, Steam, and P3D. Trouble is as you become an old sod, junking FSX and P3D + add-ons to move to FS2020 becomes a very very expensive exercise. Yes but only to a limited extent: in essence, our products should run in the next P3D4 updates as-is (unless they dramatically change some of the underlying SDK implementation). In effect although our products do 'hack' into the simulator in order to achieve some of their integration, these are designed with a future-proof approach which makes them automatically working with new P3D4 updates. Our code self-adapt and automatically detects the changes from one P3D4 version to the next. However the only part which requires a RXP update is the autopilot support. To date, this requires a manual code fix for now.
