PSS 757 a real let down in a few key areas...

Yes, Paul, how do you go from 32-Bit to DXT-3?http://www.my-buddy-icon.com/Icons/objects/red_3d_plane.gifAlex ChristoffN562ZBaltimore, MD

Only>issue Ive seen is the AA livery textures don't show.>I think PSS did a great job on this one. You guys should give>them some slack.YOu can correct the AA texture problem by going into the aircraft.cfg file. There is a typo resulting in the texture name not matching the texture folder name. You just have to substitute the N with an A.Also, the condor livery shows under JCM. You can change that back too.

It could have 40kt headwind and a 15000ft runway it still isn't going to make 10k by the end of the runway. I would take about 15/20 seconds after becoming airborne to clear a long runway which means it must have been doing in the region of 50,000fpm - I dont think so!!!!The 757 in that video was NOT taking off, it would have been doing over 300kts to get that climb rate, still it would have not been able to clear 10,000ft by the end of the runway!

Thanks for the AA texture tip, I'll try it... :-)I'm having a problem with the look of this VC though, some artist need to know how to separate the look of their work...

Chris you have to accept it for what it is... Artist like Prince are always going to sound like Prince but by contrast artist/producers like Mute Lange can have their music sound one way for one artist while it sounds totally different for another artist. Henry Mancini is another example of this

Hey guys,Sorry for the delay, busy week. You would need imagetool which is available in the SDK direct from MS. I know there are a few other tools out there that do it as well. Run imagetool, open up the individual .bmp's and under format you can change from 32 bit to dxt-3 and then just save. Obviously back up everything first but it is really a simple process that will show huge performance improvements,Good luck,-Paul

Wow! I stand corrected....after adjusting my EFIS refresh rates down to 6 on both the 757 and the 777 (it was set at 18 FPS!), I'm now able to just about get my locked 30FPS. Once while flying the 757 out of KSEA using real weather (heavy broken clouds and rain), and another flight from LGAV going around Athens, Greece at night and landing visual to the Northeast. I hand flew both flights, and it was very nice, a few stutters, but that's MSFS, and expected. Now hopefully the texture changes will allow us to acheive Level-D performance. There's hope yet!http://www.my-buddy-icon.com/Icons/objects/red_3d_plane.gifAlex ChristoffN562ZBaltimore, MD

>>I just bought the PSS 757 and found it unusable on my>system.>> Primary reason for this is terrible framerates from within>>the VC. No feedback was ever really taken into consideration by them. I don't know who their beta testers are but they need to be fired because they are completely useless.

Shouldn't it have been PSS having the textures correct in the first place? Who the heck uses 32 bit textures in the VC without at least giving the user at least the option to switch to DTX3? I gotta scratch my head as to why some of you keep buying from these guys.

Thanks for the tip, Paul, I will try converting the textures. Keep in mind my problem is when the textures load only. After that I get about 25 fps in the vc. Are the 777 textures also 32 bit? Have to check, I may convert those too if needed. Thanks, Carlos

There you go Alex. As you have found it is very flyable after some tweaks and hand flying it is fantastic. Yes PSS should have defaulted the refresh rates to six. Would have made a lot of first impressions better. I already knew about this since I already had the Triple 7 and it's has the same adjustment. Yes the colors and textures and all have a PSS signature. No biggie for me.Regards, Carlos

I've also taken Paul's advice above and reduced all of the VC textures in BOTH my 757 and 777 with an image tool called DXTBmp, version 4.00.84 by Martin Wright. It's freeware and available on the net. Just Google the title or the author's name. Easy to follow instructions or just follow Paul's directions above. The results are fantastic, and I hit my 30 FPS locked target at busy airports with real weather and 75% traffic, which works for me. I didn't really want to have to go to such measures, and I would hope that PSS releases replacement textures in the forthcoming patch very soon, but at least I can now enjoy the aircraft in the remaining few months that they are flyable before FSX is released. I think I'm done with payware airliners for FS9. But I am looking forward to the LDS 757 and PMDG MD11 for FSX! Ok, maybe one Airbus from PMDG to round things out. :-lolhttp://www.my-buddy-icon.com/Icons/objects/red_3d_plane.gifAlex ChristoffN562ZBaltimore, MD

"I think I'm done with payware airliners for FS9."Well I guess you won't be flying anything new (airliners that is) until well into next spring and early summer of 07...

I know 10k is an exageration. My point is not to prove the above post but to show what a light airliner can do. An empty or very light airliner has a very high thrust to weight ratio and can make pretty extreme climb rates around 6000 ft /min and they handle a lot like oversized jet fighters. A lot of times what in flight sim "feels like a real heavy" is actually incorrect flight dynamics and "flys like an F16" is correct flight dynamics depending on the aircraft's pax, cargo, and fuel load. If a heavily loaded airliner still flys like an F16 then there is a problem there. Even with a normal load todays modern airliners can climb at amazing rates of 3000+ fpm or better under 10,000 feet.Regards, Carlos
