September 6, 200619 yr Smearing? If anything we're doing them a favor. We tell them where they need improvements. Make the improvements = make more money. ####, maybe we should be getting paid a consulting fee?
September 6, 200619 yr Hi everyone,I've always thought the PSS products to be good, having said that I've never regarded them as being great.I get put off sometimes but the attitudes of some developers, with all due respect I can imagine it gets frustrating when users are asking the same questions but it is not hard to still be civil, abiet a bit annoyed. Though this is just not related to PSS, I have sometimes seen replies on the Level-D forums that I thought were abrupt or overly sharp. Certainly doesnt come across well from a customers view point. Though full credit to Norman whom is clearly trying to change the face of PSS customer support.I think a difference I notice with PSS is that you have companies like LDS and PMDG whom are willing to go the extra mile and consider extra features for the benefit of their users (for example the co-pilot in LDS, the many custom display options in the 747, the round navrad dial, etc). These may not be used by everyone and may not be seen as important to all but when a developer goes the extra length I as a consumer really notice it and will support the company if possible. Although I may be seen biased in this area I believe FS2Crew to be another developer willing to go the extra mile. The unwillingness of PSS to cater for suggested features (obviously not all can be implemented but some consideration would be nice) doesn't always come across well, especially when you get an 'it is what it is' response.I couple of examples are the original stonewalling of a FIX page, which to their credit they finally introduced and the debarcle surrounding V-speed callouts. For me they are not a critical feature but I can see why some people would like them. A small effort to include these wouldn't go astray and would help with the company imagine.I definately agree that this shouldn't be a flame fest, but I also think that those whom are unsatisfied should be able to voice their opinions without the 'trolling' comments. As long of course as the opinions are rational and civil. For myself PSS produce good products, but in the days where truely great products out there I'm finding its a little hard to pay premium dollar for 'good' especially when your on a budget. I bought the Dash 8 which I thought was okay and also purchased the 777, after the 777 debarcle I decided that I would no longer purchase any PSS products. I installed the patch and think they've done a great job, the 777 is a nice bird but for me it still doesn't have the refinement of the PMDG, LDS addons.Their models are usually good and the systems are top notch but for me the displays are a little jerky and detract from my flying experience. They may have some of the best panels in the market (well I like them anyway) but for me smooth gauges and crisp clear gauges are more important. Despite their being 'fixes' out there I still do not get the performance I get with the other addons. Also, I don't think that they needs to be on the PSS forum as its not directly related to support and will more than likely turn into a flame fest by hardcore PSS supports. The fact that they have such supports is a credit to them and their products and as stated earlier you can't please everybody.I like PSS, but until they show a bit more refinement I'll be sticking with LDS and PMDG.Jeremy
September 6, 200619 yr YES, Airliners can fly like jet fighters when light. In case you misunderstood my post above. The video is a 757 going ballistic at an airshow. Regards, Carlos
September 6, 200619 yr Well,Much to my disappointment after all I have read in this thread, I have the pleasure to say that I have had no problems with the PSS 757 and the PSS 777 sp2 for that matter.I don't know how you guys tune your pc but here is what I report:No crashesVC looks fine to meMy brakes do hold my aircraft in one spot because I start my engines on pushback just like the pilot seems to do it every time I fly in the real world.I do own the PMDG 737 series, the PMDG 747, Level-D 767 and I love them all. Yes they are examplary FS add-ons.I bought the PSS 777 and 757. If I had to do it again, I would.I would buy the CS 757 to compare but from what I've heard it is not finished yet.For those that have not bought the PSS 757 yet, go over to the PSS forum, there are also dozens of satisfied customers, not that the ones that aren't are in the wrong.
September 6, 200619 yr Dillon,I wonder what 'block' the CS patch for FSX will be or, more to the point, WHEN WILL IT BE AVAILABLE? :-) Dave Taylor
September 6, 200619 yr Dave at this rate we may not see the next 'Block' until well after the release of FSX... I've given up hope and gotten into this PSS 757 (this will hold me I guess until Level-D releases theirs for FSX)... September 6, 200619 yr I just thought about something. I'm using the same Des Braban sound set for all my PSS aircraft (A330/777/757). No other developers work have I needed to do this for every aircraft they've produce. I ended up slaving the 757 to the same sound set because the engine noise was deafening in the cockpit FS2020 Alienware Aurora R11 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10700F - Windows 11 Home 32GB Ram NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR
September 6, 200619 yr Hey Dillon,How do you like PSS's 777 anyways, outside of the sounds? I've always been interested in it, but have held off for the last while. I know that it's not really comparable to PMDG or LDS, but is it, at least, a decent representation of the 777?It does look like I'll be holding out for LDS' 757 as well, though. :-(
September 6, 200619 yr Author Plus, I think the wing flex animation might be a little exaggerated. September 6, 200619 yr Hey J.C., I actually like the 777 for what it is. The VC looks cool and functional for the most part. I never really had a problem with it outside the sounds even before the patches. September 7, 200619 yr I just got this and well I think it is no worse than the T7 in fps. It flys wonderfully (hand flying) in my opinion. The virtual cockpit looks great even if it is slow to load. The model is quite good although I dont have the CS one to compare. Did one flight and it performed admirably with none of the bugs mentioned. Maybe mine was a newer installer. Only issue Ive seen is the AA livery textures don't show.I think PSS did a great job on this one. You guys should give them some slack.Regards, Carlos

September 7, 200619 yr What seemed to work for me performance wise is to first defrag my Hard Drive after installation. Then lower the refresh rates of the gauges down to '2' (PSS includes a config panel that's actually very useful for adjusting fuel etc. The panel includes adjustments for the cockpit displays as well). September 7, 200619 yr Paul, And just how is that done? I would like to learn how as I think it would make this plane great. My only gripe with it is the long load times for the sideviews in 2D and the VC textures. Any help offered on this process would be great. Thanks,Joe Regards, Joe Esposito
