PSS 757 a real let down in a few key areas...

A lot of us wish PSS would do a better job of testing, puting in basic features that everyone else has etc etc. They don't even have PNF call-outs. Why? Every other respected developer has call-outs. There are a few things I do praise them for, which is very nice and sharp 2d panels, the nifty options pop-up, and the fact that they have finally stopped charging ridiculous amounts of money for liveries at least on the 757. I don't hate PSS, and I make these points because I want to see them raise their standards.

He's approaching 70 years old and doesn't make stuff up. It was a very cold day in Ottawa that day. This was also before the restrictions were put on the 757 engines.

PSS has said numerous times, the PNF callouts are not made by the PNF, not the A/C itself, hence they do not model them. Again, that is not a feature of the A/C but a nice to have of the simulation. People need to better differentiate betwen the two...I am yet to see someone raise a point of something that is "so bad" with this A/C. As others have said, I am having a grat experience with mine and since the Patch 2 of the T7 it is rock solid. Everything is relative, I LOVE my LDS but would also like to see a working CDU in the VC, I love my PMDG but would love to have a wxr gauge so you just can't have everything. It does not mean something is a bad product as this post indicated which is where the trolling accusations come in. Again, the poster could have posted this in the PSS forum as constructive criticism but didn't he just voiced it publicly. His choice but others are certainly going to fomr their own opinions on the original intent...-Paul

Well as my posting comparing screenies of the outside of the PSS 757 with the CS 757 was deleted (seems that somebody wasn't too happy about that..) might I add my thoughts, as a happy LDS 767, CS and PSS 757 flier.The exterior model on the PSS 757 is a joke. The wheels are square! It looks like something from FS98. Things improve inside, as the 2D and VC are very well done although I feel it looks very clinical. The nice thing with CS's 757 is that the 'lived in' textures feel more real. Also think about some of the ground-breaking features LDS brought us with the 767 - simulated pushback, hosties that yell at you when it's too hot or cold, cabin announcements, packs sounds, the list goes on. That was TWO years ago nearly and PSS haven't even matched that kind of functionality.CS's 757 isn't without it's own problems of course. The 2D panel is a joke, the flight model leaves a lot to be desired and I'm thinking that the 'block' system is designed to stop us moaning about the things that don't work, as we'll sit waiting for them to fix it with the next block.I'm going to definitely cut back on what I buy for FSX. So many add-on aircraft are parked in the great desert of my hard drive as they're buggy, unfinished, uncomplete or just don't work properly.From now on, I'm going to to have to LDS 767 as my main ride, backed up by the 757 whenever it shows up, the PMDG 737 and 747 for the times I need a change and maybe I'll look at their forthcoming MD11 too. PSS and CS have both had their last pennies from me!

Yeah, well it certainly illustrates some of my issues with the whole payware situation. Especially when you are talking about single add-ons for games that cost as much as other games themselves. While a dedicated flight simmer might not see that as an issue, every add-on removes a whole game from my budget, and for that to happen, it has to be very very very good.At the same time, I don't think I've ever seen a real negative review on AVSIM, etc, in regards to add-ons. But then you look to the forums and see complaints about bugs, missing features, shoddy visuals, etc.I certainly hope FSX brings some reform to the way this whole payware market is handled.

Im suprised with some of you guys responses to this post. It was written badly, it wasnt a flame. It was a post about flaws in an add on he bought posted where others who might think about purchasing it would see it. If you like it fine, if someone else doesnt that doesnt make them a troll. No matter how you slice it PSS is not up to the standards I want in add on aircraft; I learned that lesson with the 777 and so I didnt purchase the 757. It seems the exact same effort was put into the 757. Im not one to get something just ebcause its new. Ill fly my 2 year old 67 and be happy.

(The 777 for FS 2000 got 5 stars here on avsim, the 777 for FS9 got 3.5) Flying PMDG's 747 and the Level D 767 is like spending a luxurious night in a 5 star hotel in Dubai. Flying the 777 is like spending a night at Motel 6. I mean, the bed is clean, the toilet works, but....ricardo

PSS is ok. But that's the problem. I find myself nowadays ignoring the "ok" planes in my hanger. I've decided not to buy from PSS.

Maybe the runway was really, really long.

Well I just did a couple of flights with the 757 and my opinion is starting to change somewhat from before.I took off and found no problems with the autopilot, autothrottle, and any of the other features like WX radar. The flight model seemed solid enough and flew on the numbers (wheels left the runway at the exact speed published for the weight) with no problems. Climb rate seemed realistic as well. You can either build a flight in the FMC or use FS's default flight plans. LNAV/VNAV worked without incident throughout the whole flight. I wouldn't recommend any sim acceleration beyond 8x for obvious reasons I'm sure everyone is familiar with. Overall the plane flies and does what it's supposed to do quite well. I've always loved the weather radar feature now included with a few high quality FS aircraft out now.What I don't like about the PSS 757:1. Night lighting in the VC2. The external model for reasons already mentioned (wing flex actually makes up for other shortcomings as the PSS757 looks better in flight compared to CS's model). 3. I don't understand why the main exit door and rear cargo door have not been modeled.4. The horizontal stabilizer doesn't seem to move with trim input on the external model. It looks quite odd in flight pitched lower than it should be... 5. Occasional CTD problem after flights6. Sounds are horrible. Someone at PSS is still in the 'Stone Age' when it comes to internal sounds. When will some people get it that loud engine sounds in the cockpit is highly unrealistic. At least we don't hear the APU engine in the cockpit like what's the case with FT's 737PIC (I can talk about the FeelThere bird because I was apart of that project).I'm finding I don't have that many problems with the PSS 757 after I've taken a more detailed look at it. I must admit the VC is a let down at night compared to Level-D's work and CS's model. All that's needed is a few lights added here and there (some think you can do it with a dome light but that basically is that lazy approach. Dome light works best if you use it for dusk operations before the default lighting comes on. This is what I did in the FeelThere Caravan. There's a period it can get really dark in the VC just before the night lighting kicks in). I followed PSS's recommendations in their forum for VC framerates and that along with defragging my hard drive seemed to work. I get better framerates with PSS's 757 than I do with CaptainSim's 757. What's funny is CS's model has very basic avionics and still is a hog on frames. PSS's bird might be the better performer out of the two when it's all said and done. The avionics suite in the PSS bird is diffidently acceptable

Yeah, I'll tell ya, the jerkiness is frustrating really, and the frames, albeit at KMIA (default) and with real weather were atrocious. I mean by now, can't developers get this straight? I'm sure the patches are forthcoming, and I'll give them a chance to get it right before I mothball it, but it's very frustrating not to be able to enjoy something you paid for when you get it, and have to wait weeks or even months for the company to make it right. It's pretty to look at, especially the 2-D panel (nice work!). I actually enjoyed flying it around the circuit at KMIA, stutters and all, but it really pales in comparison to the LDS 767. If Level-D ever release a 777 for FSX, I'm done, their Boeings, and the PMDG 737, will be all the airliners I need.
