Not to mention, restricting choice would be illegal in the US and violate Antitrust Laws. Cheers, Rob. I agree with Rob. Nobody is forcing anyone to spend any money on add-ons. It's the buyers choice to spend whatever he wants to! Robin "Onward & Upward" ... To the Stars, & Beyond...

FSLabs vs Aerosoft A32x, PMDG vs iFly Jets 737, QW vs CaptainSim 757 to name but a few. Really, how can there be only a single version of an aircraft in a particular market? Maybe a developer wants to market a so-called study version of, for example a 757, & another a more basic version at a lower price? The more choices we have, the better for the hobby! So MS would have no oversight on quality at all. Freedom of choice please! Yeah, I know, I have nothing against it. What I hope for is things that get into the official store are curated and need to reach some standards set by Microsoft. They said they want to implement all the features only when they are good enought to get into the sim, that's the right direction to go in my opinion, that in mind, I would like to see that kind of vision for all the add-ons sold on the official stores (Steam, Microsoft Store). I wouldn't care to pay more to have some assurances I don't have currently on the other simstores/3rd party stores, one of the things being the no refunds policy. October 7, 20196 yr Well, Microsoft has said that developers can market through the XBox store, or what ever store Microsoft uses, as well as any other marketplace the developer decides upon, even his own. So, your thoughts then are that only add-ons via Microsoft's own store will be curated my Microsoft? I really dont think that's a good idea. I prefer my own research, as well as that of actual users, so I can make an informed decision of what I want. Robin "Onward & Upward" ... To the Stars, & Beyond...
October 7, 20196 yr Will also the hardware be sold there? I think it could tempt some "beginner"/"gamer"/"XBox-user" (call them whatever you like) to buy a joystick or even a yoke or pedals if that would be only one klick away and plug-and-play. And I think this make things more real and could draw some new serious simmers to our hobby. Sure, but most of the people won't do the same level of research and would just believe on the description/screenshots of the product. Doing some internal tests before releasing on the official stores would be nice. What devs release on the other stores wouldn't concern MS. But if curating products happens to be a big deal, I would sit for a good feedback system (like on Steam, it's easy to spot when a product is bad) and a good refund policy. October 7, 20196 yr Well, before spending money, I always look on the various forums & reviews to see what the actual end user has to say. It could be interesting, as well, if freeware developers can market through Microsoft's marketplace as well. Robin "Onward & Upward" ... To the Stars, & Beyond...

Don't know why you're quoting me and questioning my original comment? Your 2nd sentence repeats what I said, agreeing with the rest of my post which you didn't quote. Also, as@SamYeagerpointed out, say a developer like Carenado or BlackBox got their efforts in first, other developers are locked-out. I don't see that as a reason to stifle competition. It is a PC first, hard-core simmer first platform. It's primary focus is not the casual gamer, although there is enough in the new sim (seemingly) to lure casual gamers in and grow the market.
