"The List" I presume meaning the IUP flight-sim Mailing List? Those were the days, my friend. Back when The Legend Alfred Grech was saying "Cover the World"--back when there were 450 default airports in FS 5.1 . . .Back when "mountains" were various green shaded blobs . . .Back when synthetic tile elevations made the runways appear to float until you got closer to them and crossed over the synthetic tile boundary that had the same elevation as the runway, and it settled down to ground level . . .Back when double-digit frame rates were quite an achievement on a 33 Mh with 32 Mb of RAM!Back when various pioneers (Gavioli, Moldenhauer, ah who else?) had to hack the innards of FS to even make addon scenery possible! (One of those Pioneers, Adam Szofran (FSASM), is now an integral part of the FS development team).Back when the IUP FTP archive (and Mike Marando's daily list of files) was the main distribution venue. Those were sort of like the Wild West Days of simming. We've come a long way since then, the genre has grown enormously, and now there is a whole cottage industry built around MSFS.And the MSFS development team has come down out of their ivory tower and is actually interacting with the community! Would have been (nearly) unheard of ten years ago. I think the whole evolution on both sides of the sim is great thing, and I think AVSIM has been a very big part of that evolution.Tom, your baby has grown up! :-)-------Justinhttp://www.fsgenesis.netHigh Quality Scenery for FS200x

I remember AVSIM before it's online status. It used to come in a bulletin/magazine format and I recall correcting Tom on a geographical matter pertaining to Australia. Stuffed if I can remember the exact details though.Aybe

Hmmm, well, I'm just a "youngster" here; I disremember how long 'zackly but I'm not ashamed to admit that Avsim is my first stop every morning. Don't know what I'd do without it!:D

Yep- that's the same list alright Justin. And those were the days- remember editing autoexec.bat files for memory management? I recall upgrading from a 1MB stack to 2 MBs. I thought I had created a Cray :)! Even so, life was much simpler then. Remember that first DC-9 add-on plane? It looked like the Lear, actually was the Lear with some tweaks to fly like a DC-9, as I recall. We all thought that we had it made.....Bruce.

ASEL, Instrument.

KBJC, Colorado.

Oh yes, the autoexec.bat and config.sys! Pottering about with them in every possible way! How time flies...Be well!Jaap Verduijn.

Yes, congratulations,I remember those days. There were just a few forums when I first visited this Website. Remember when the ProPilot forum was introduced and later, the Fly! forum? For a while, Tom was thinking of calling it quits and I was very disappointed. Thank goodness that he re-considered!Thanks, Tom

Tom,Most likely you do not remember this. You were acting as temporary controller. I was fooling around flying around LAX - I asked you if I could buzz the airport at high speed......you let me indulge - was fun!!Thanks for that, thanks for the almost ten years and thanks in advance for the next ten years.Abe

Not sure where the time has gone but congrats Tom and staff. A neighbor in Roanoke. Craig 90 Mhz Pentium II 20G HD 8Mb Ram SB Audio Graphics-2mb dont recall the brand

Kerosene31, Maho Beach at St Maartin with beers!! I'll be thereI think that is the best idea. Planned for a Boeing 747 and Airbus A340 landing.JimCYWG

My first visit to Avsim was with AOL 3.0 and I thought I was the coolest thing with all the new addons.
