September 26, 200619 yr Hi!I just wanted to know if this upcoming Airbus series will be an option for homecockpit-builders...?Will there be undockable panels (MCDU, PFD, ND, EICAS)?Will there be keyboard assignements to the switching functions (overhead, FCU) - like PSS does - and will it be possible to read out the values of the FCU to show it on a hardware panel? So I would not have to buy the expensive project magenta software. Thanks in advance for information!Christoph
October 2, 200619 yr I'm VERY excited about the Airsimmer project. The PSS airbuses and I have had a good time, but it's time to step it up a notch (or three or four...). Does anybody know if there is a mailing list for updates on the project or is it best to keep checking the forums and airsimmer.com?ThanksAlden
October 3, 200619 yr Author I notice that they do update their site with screenshots. I'd probably stay tuned to Airsimmer.com for announcements and screens of progress. Core i7 920 @ 4.2Ghz on Water, eVGA Classified x58, 12 GB Corsair Dominator GT @ 2000mhz, Radeon HD 5870 1GB, (4) 30GB OCZ Vertex SSD's in RAID 0, X-Fi Titanium Sound, Galaxy DXX 1kW PSU, Windows Vista x64, Logitech Z-5500 5.1 Speakers
October 3, 200619 yr I personally, think that for a product that is in the process of being made, they did a great job. I was very much impressed with the airplane and how it handled. They were very kind to answer all my questions and I am following there product closely.Charles Huckelbery
October 3, 200619 yr Hi Charles :-)What questions did you have (and what was their answer ;-) )?How long did you fly the Airbus? How was the fly-by-wire simulation? Was it like setting a V/S and it kept it accuratly? Thanks for further answers,Stefan
October 9, 200619 yr Commercial Member >I notice that they do update their site with screenshots. There will be less new screenshots in the future. The development now is centered on the system programming and, you understand, we are not going to post screenshots of the C code on our site. As for the latest news, we have finally changed the instrument panel. The A320 family has two types of the panel - an old one with rounded corners and CRT displays, and a new one with rectangular corners and LCD displays. We have decided to make the new one for the following reasons: - all the new Airbuses are supplied with the new panel - no A318 has the old panel - many old panels are actually being replaced by the the new ones - we gain a certain amount of polygones (this point is critical in the A321 model with the full 200-seat cabin) - new displays are some 7% larger (increasing readability)At the other hand, the only disadvantages that we found are: - still the majority of the Airbuses are equiped with the old panel - we loose the familiar "blue-gray" color that is mostly gray on the new panel.Having both variants of the panel causes different kind of problems, so there will be only one of them. Working on the new panel explains why there's still no screenshots of the 2D cockpit.
October 9, 200619 yr Excellent news overall - personally I've had my fill of the old style anyway - from long years with the venerable PSSA32X. I'll happily make the mental 'compromise' of having the new style on all variants/operators.regards,Markhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpgXPHomeSP2/FS9.1/3.2HT/1024mb/X700pro256 Regards, Mark
October 9, 200619 yr Samdim,I like the fact you all are going with the new panel. I assume the new panel with the LCD type displays will be in the VC as well? Also, have you all made a choice on wether to go with Richard Steffan from NavData, now Navigraph so that we can get all the updated Airacs and terminal procedures every month? This is still for FS9 as well as FSX right? One last question...how about opening a forum for this much anticipated release? Thanks! Eric

Of course, the panel will be the same type in 2D and in VC.>This is still for FS9 as well as FSX right? For both>One last question...how about opening a forum for this much>anticipated release? Not now, I don't know, better ask Vasili or Zoya.
October 10, 200619 yr Very nice indeed :) - a couple of questions:1 - why the full virtual cabin? It looks nice but imho there's no point having the fact that there are no 'passengers' emphasised by all that empty space.2 - will there be glass reflections/effects for the virtual cockpit windows? I hope so - better use of resources than the cabin i think :)Watching closely.regards,Markhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpgXPHomeSP2/FS9.1/3.2HT/1024mb/X700pro256 Regards, Mark
October 10, 200619 yr Stefan:I did fly there airbus for about 20 minutes, twice throughout the two days I was there. Its a fly by wire simulation, I do not know what the seeting on the V/S was like, but in my opinion it was very clear. Plane flew just great for being was it was a demo version. I very much liked it and the gentleman from Airsimmer A320 were very freindly and you could ask they any question. They were very professional and kind. I keep my eye on this product and when it comes out and get it. Charles
October 10, 200619 yr Commercial Member 1. The cabin is hidden as soon as the cockpit door is closed. (the geometry dissapears => no fps leak)2. I am not a fan of glass reflections:- showing the whole world through a semi-transparent textured layer (i.e. cockpit windows with reflection) is a huge fps eater.- the outside of the cabin is looking dimmer than it should be because of the semi-transparency.- what seems to be real-looking reflections from the captain's seat will look completely unreal from any other place.- in FSX, glass reflections are built-in - no need to texture the glass.
October 10, 200619 yr Right - I'd forgotten that the cabin disappears. Too bad about the reflections in the (fs9) vc - I like them despite the limitations but oh well :)Appreciate the responses.regards,Markhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpgXPHomeSP2/FS9.1/3.2HT/1024mb/X700pro256 Regards, Mark
