September 19, 200619 yr OK I broke down today and downloaded the FSX Beta.Amazing!!!I did a short flight around KATL which is my home field. The detail over FS9 is incredible. I have FS9 optioned out with about everything available and FSX looks as good in most cases and even better in some.I have all the sliders except AI set at medium to medium high and FPS locked at 20. Maintains it pretty well. What amazes me most is NO BLURRIES, NO STUTTER, NO SHIMMERING. The only thing I see that just looks terrible is the water. I have it set at level 3. The wave action is nice but the color is terrible.I was excited about FSX before. Now I'm counting the days. Wish the beta would give me more than 30 minutes though.
September 19, 200619 yr I think if you do a mission first, the 30 min. time limit disappears. I'm not positve though. Ark -------------------------- I9 9900K @ 5ghz / 32GB G.Skill (Samsung B) / Aorus Master Mobo / EVGA GTX 2080Ti FTW 3
September 20, 200619 yr >I think if you do a mission first, the 30 min. time limit>disappears. I'm not positve though.>>Neah, that doesn't work. So often have I been cut off while doing missions... its infuriating :0
September 20, 200619 yr You can save your mission every 25 mins, then reload and continue on from where you left from when you start your next FSX session. This doesn't work for some of the missions, so for those I do the first 30 mins, then redo the first 30 mins in 4x accel mode (kinda like skimming a book you've already partially read) and take it from there on. I've been able to complete many missions this way and haven't found one yet where I needed a second 30 min block.Gary 9800X3D | 4090 | 64GB | 2+1TB NVME | 2TB SSD | 2TB HDD | 85/50/43” TVs | Quest 3 | DOF H3 Motion Rig | Buttkicker | T.16000M Flight Kit MSFS @ 4K Ultra DLSS Performance FG 80 FPS | VR VDXR Godlike 80Hz SSW | MSFS VR DLSS Quality, Ultra Preset - Windows 11 Acer Nitro 5 | i5-11400H | RTX 3060 6 GB | 32GB DDR4 | 15.6" FHD IPS 144Hz | 2 x 512 GB SSD | Windows 11
September 20, 200619 yr Where did you download the beta? If you signed up at Fileplanet, you would have got a key right? So I'm assuming you got it somewhere else. I'd be perfectly happy with just the 30 minute mode, but am not going to pay Fileplanet for the download.
September 20, 200619 yr Nope, anyone can download from file planer (have to pay for 1 month membership) If you don't have a key then the beta runs for 30 minutes only.
September 20, 200619 yr >Nope, anyone can download from file planer (have to pay for 1>month membership) If you don't have a key then the beta runs>for 30 minutes only.So what you're saying is that if I pay Fileplanet for the download, I still won't get a key? That's a rip in the shorts. So how did the folks with keys get them? Sorry, I must be out of the loop on something. :-)
September 20, 200619 yr You had to be part of the Fileplanet members group prior to the beta release to get one of the keys. Yeah, I hear ya. But relax, it's only 30 days away.BTW, my home airport is KATL also! I'll be picking my copy up at Fry's on release day (I live like 1 mile south of the D&B's on I-85. Maybe we can fly together some time using the multiplayer features.--2002cbr600f4i
September 20, 200619 yr seems like what I'm downloading is only 218mb?EDIT: nevermind..you have to install the download software...don't download from the direct links they give 218mb file...not the right one
September 20, 200619 yr > What amazes me most is NO BLURRIES, NO STUTTER, NO SHIMMERING. Hard to believe. The beta version does not contain the bugfix for the blurries. And I really doubt about no stutters too.
September 20, 200619 yr "Hard to believe. The beta version does not contain the bugfix for the blurries. And I really doubt about no stutters too"Well there sweet pea, all I can say is that's what I'm seeing. And, in fact, I don't give a rats #### what you believe.
September 20, 200619 yr Author >> What amazes me most is NO BLURRIES, NO STUTTER, NO>SHIMMERING. >>Hard to believe. The beta version does not contain the bugfix>for the blurries. And I really doubt about no stutters too.Actually, as I've been running the beta, my settings have gotten more refined to the point where I hardly ever see blurries. Of course, I'm keeping my water setting down, and that kind of makes me sad, and I mostly do short range VFR, so it's not a monumental thing, just a good thing for me.
September 20, 200619 yr I can confirm the no stutters. Even at low FPS, FSX is virtually stutter-free. This is why you can get 14-17 FPS and it seems smoother than 23-27 FPS in FS9.As far as blurries, as mentioned above, you can get rid of them if you're willing to turn down your settings. I like my eye candy too much to do that, though, so I'll live with them till I get the RTM verison. :-)
