Blurries still there :(

Featured Replies

Adam, Thank you *very* much for that explanation. I know the team had stated that there was a significant fix for dynamic blurred textures in the final release and so this thread was a bit disturbing. Your reply is very reassuring. Although blurred textures are very obvious in the demo on my average system, my overall impressions of the demo are very, very positive. I am greatly looking forward to October! Best regards, Chris

Badly coded...? Wow, aren't you full of it Mr Pompous ####... Snowing with data doesn't help your argument. The explanation for the blurries has been given several times, it's time to let it go now. I had blurries in FS9 at some time too. I solved it by upgrading my PC and tweaking the .cfg file.

Hmm, I have a matrox triplehead and a 7900gt and i get the blurries with or without AA and AF turned on. I run all of my other games with AA and AF turned on, but I like to turn them off when in FSX to improve the framerate and i still get random attacks of the blurries for whatever reason in the beta. I don't think that AA and AF is the root cause of this problem. Honestly the game really is alot better than FS9 visually, but with my fledgling pilot skills I'm not qualified to comment on how much better it is with the technical aspects of piloting. Obviously from all the reviews I've read, Nvidia has some serious problems with these 7900gt cards with overheating and poor display of textures (compared to ATI), so it could be something as simple as that and not the game causing it. I for one will be at egghead the day the game is released and will be hoping that the 3rd party companies update all of my FS9 planes so that they can run in FSX. I also wanted to personally thank the Aces team for being so kind at the avsim conference and spending the time to talk to the public. That was a great thing that you don't see very often from a developer. *thumbs up*

Marten's concern is a real one. Adam's response, for Aces/Microsoft, addresses that concern in a substantive way, explaining the source of the problem and also how to address it. Thanks, Adam and Aces, for actively communicating with us. We really appreciate it.A couple of things I take away from Adam's explanation:1. More video memory will help.2. There's a lesson here for add-on scenery developers. DON'T use all of the resolution that's available to you in the new product, or don't use it for everything.

"Thats badly coded software, period." "failing to address even basic technical problems. (Well, what else is new?" "FSX does not offer a significant technical improvement over FS9 -- where it counts""I had no intention to attack Microsoft or the FS"Please explain how your above quoted comments do not come off as an attack, or at least very insulting to the Aces team.http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg

WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!

I'd reread this thread, you may find you've inadvertantly attacked FS developers. One, you disagreed with one of the developers and said he was wrong when in fact he was correct in referring to the distant textures. Two, you called the software they've been optimizing and rehashing over the past 3 years bad code.Three, you've stated that no improvements were made to the basic technical problems that exist in FS9 and refer that this is a normal policy for each FS upgrade by stating "What else is new".This is why the "dumb" posts have been written, nearly everyone who responded in this thread has been reading these types of half-witted, unthoughtprovoking threads for the past 3 months and since FS can't obviously meet your standard of code optimization, maybe you should inquire to MS if they need a programmer such as yourself to help them create good code. This isn't a disagreement of what you saw, just in the way you have gone about relaying your problem.I apoligize in advance, I've just quit smoking.Ian.

Not a reply to anyone in particular so don't get offended, just some general "food for thought". These come from (hopefully) humourous but slightly irreverent presentations on software development and troubleshooting I've done to staff, resellers and customers of the software company I work for.-----My Theory on Every Subject"On every subject, there are always three groups of people. There are those that know they know, there are those who know they don't know, and there are those who think they know. The first two groups never cause you any trouble as they have balanced expectations and a true understanding of their personal limitations. The third group is always by far the largest group, and will cause all the problems."-----When you've worked in the professional software world for nearly twenty years producing shrinkwrap software for millions of users, at some point in time you will be told that you are an idiot who should not be left unattended with a compiler as "any competent programmer" could fix your "badly written" and "poorly optimised" product. There is a simple two word reply to such statements which always ends the personal attack on your technical prowess (and ego)."Send code."-----There is no such thing as bug free software. The real skill is therefore knowing which bugs you can ship with.-----

Hi Marten,Here's a simple fix - don't purchase FSX. Stay with FS9.JerryG

The resolution Adam referes to is the screen resolution not the textures, although of course the higher the texture resolution the more memory needed.

The beta does not feature the fixes Aces implemented recently to reduce blurries... :-roll As for the 7900 'serious problems', the 7900 series all use the same G71 core along with the PlayStation 3, there is nothing wrong with them. The problems are more than likely due to a bad batch that where used by some of the OEMs, which just so happened to be used in early 7900GT cards.
