October 12, 200619 yr Morning.First off, I'm happy because it's raining and that means I get the day off to play around with FSX.As for FSX itself, I'm enjoying it very much. Obviosuly there are limitations that I cannot get past as far as grphics quality go, but with the tweaks available I'm able to find more than enough to do while the rest is sorted out.I'm getting decent FPS over LAX with the autogen at a medium setting and things look good. Took a flight out to Edwards AFB and it looks great! I think Edwards will be my default start flight from now on. Can't wait to see new scenery improvements for it. I'll be parking my Captain Sim F-104 there real soon.Bush and mountain flights are looking great with good to very good FPS at settings high enough to give great scenery. Some of the new cockpits are very nice with great visibility and it's great fun going tree skimming.I paid my $79.99 for the deluxe version and I don't regret a penny of it. And my thanks, past, present, and future goes out to the mod community who are already offering improvements to what is inevitably going to be simply the best flight simulator there is and one which we all get to have. Thanks to all you guys! Now if you'll excuse me, I have a plane to attend to... ___________________________I'm just flying for the fun of it.
October 12, 200619 yr >^^^>Why did you feel the need to post that kind of thing? Did you>think it was useful or informative in context to the topic>(Which it isn't considering it was a topic directed to those>who ARE happy with FSX), or is it just yet another childish>way of stomping your feet and slamming the doors?Noone is forcing you to read any posts. But out of pure curiousity, how many posts i this thread do you find specially informative?Didn Staffan
October 12, 200619 yr Dillon, I was tricked!!!! October 13, 200619 yr I'm happy that Geof (an experienced pilot) is happy!Who better to judge visuals, the reality of a sim, etc. thana person who flies planes? Thanks!JerryG
October 13, 200619 yr OK....Day 1 with the D-Lux version.FX-607900GTX1 Gig Mushkin DDR400 PC3200 RAMSound Blaster AudigyNot happy yet, but getting there. I have another Gig of RAM on its way, which I hope is the silver bullet. I can see where this could be a groundbreaking version, if we can get the thing to perform on today's tech. Regardless, I will be working with FS-GS.com to get the most I can out of it. If you are having problems, you really can't go wrong to get with Michael at FS-GS.com and hammer things out--you will truly be impressed with his work.FPS on my system with High settings is 15 FPS. Not great, but useable. 25 FPS is the goal, or at least smoothness. I think the extra Gig will get me there. I'll definitely report back!
October 13, 200619 yr >Isn't that a fairly high end card? 7800GT?>WEll, it was when I bought it, but that was in January.I'd say it's still pretty high. Of course, for FS, video mem is more important than the speed of the card. I kind of wish I had 512 mb vid ram.If you find Staffan Ahlberg's recent thread, I am about to attempt uploading some screenshots to his thread per his request--at Heathrow, 27L runway *with* AI and autogen full right...but I am using Matt Fox's autogen file. I'm getting 15 fps there now. I'm surprised. We'll have to see...Panning in VC at a busy airport is still bad...RhettAMD 3700+, eVGA 7800GT 256, ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8, etc. etc. Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
