I think you missed the change LOG.  There is a lot going on.

We have now moved all the personal themes and settings to our servers so if you have to reinstall or your computer dies you have your settings and personal created themes to pull from.

In addition we added the feature that from here on out if you have to re-install or update you "should" not have to re-register the product.  Provided key files are not removed or you have a HD failure.  

Finally, we had several issues related to the EF.DLL that had to be fixed.  One was an airspeed issue, that NOT everyone was experiencing and the other was related to an FMS issue.  Both of these were very difficult to debug because only a few experienced the issue.  EF is a very complex program and involves a lot of back end coding. The facilities and features of EF involves coding without an SDK.  There are no interfaces created for what EF does.  So therefore, it had to be created to do what it does.

Therefore, it takes time to do things.

 

I will update tonight, but to me, I want to know does this update fix the silly dance you have to do to turn off adaptive lighting? Does it now stick in the mini UI and adaptive stay OFF?

Also the flat clouds sometimes is horrible and the copy and paste curruis high level. Still a problem with SF and EF. With ASP4

EF does not have anything related to injecting weather into the simulator.  Especially, rendering cloud types.  If ASP4 is your weather engine I would direct that question to them.

EF only works with what weather has been injected and will try to make the environment more realistic.

In regards to the first item, can you clarify more about what you mean by "silly dance you have to do to turn off adaptive lighting?"  I think I may be mis-understanding.

Yes to turn off adaptive lighting you have to tick adaptive lighting ON then turn HDR light OFF then after shader rebuild turn HDR ON again after that rebuild, then and finally turn adaptive OFF and that way it stays off.

Does the new build fix that? 

Also yes I know EF is not the weather engine etc but the problem started with EF flating out clouds with its morphing and even now with that turned off its still not good but ofc its going to be ASP4 hehe but before EF, SF and ASP4 the problem with flat and repeating could was not there, well it was when SF first came out but it was solved.

I had a problem when I ran the simulator without EF.  I had to run EF before P3D.   But I often wanted to fly without EF and this caused a problem. I also remember the annoying menu that popped up every time.

Got my serial number reset via your system, and I was able to successfully UPDATE Environment Force today.  All went perfectly.

Now to go flying.

AWESOME!!! Thank you for letting me know.

It is amazing that after all these months again a llot of users seem to have obviously problems to identify what the different REX products stand for: Especially REX EF and REX SF3D.

AND I can understand clearly why that is. also the the whole install and uninstall process seems to have a "bad taste". Users can not decide to run P3D without or with REX EF, And if so, they will ran into problems. This is also related to the fact REX is not following the standard (xml) method from P3D latest recommended versions. 

I was a true REX Products believer and also did test several products in Beta. I saw how feedback was handled and how users suffering with their products. 

This all brought me to uninstall all their products and just run ASP4 with ASCA. PTA for shading. 

But I really want a simple start of P3D with possibility to decide which addons shall run and which not. I don´t want to manually remove some dll...REX Modules folders and so far and so on.

 

Fact is, that after an update 24 hours ago these posts here state clear that the process is to unstable and difficult for a lot of us.

KISS......it should be much more user friendly simple and clear. All these workarounds tips and tricks to make a simulator more handsome is way to much expected in my opinion.

BUT that is just MY opinion. It does not mean that others see that equally.

No reply to my question, but just installed TU, NO, you did not fix it. I reported it more than once in the beta testing and you still have not fixed it. It also put of a lot of customers on release it was so over done, its still not nice or at best a personal taste thing.

HDR Adaptive lighting with a " - " should stay OFF not be ON every time you load the sim. 

The dancing to set it to OFF continues. Shame...and very disappointing.

That is one of the things I meant and I can clearly understand your frustration.

These "dancing" to avoid adaptive behaviour goes like:

• Start EF
• Start P3D with HDR off
• Start a flight
• Set EF to auto
• Set Adaptive to on
• Than rebuild shaders
• Than set adaptive to off
• .....and so far and so on....

It is really a shame what a user has to do just to have nice real looking sim and not to struggle with this unwanted adaptive thing which simply does not work for the most of us, is not realistic and not usable with all planes (PMDG has some issues with it for exaample).

To me it is clear: If LM with P3D does not get a simple usable sim with certain IN-SIM standards like "realistic" weather and environmental looks (Clouds, Lights, Glare, Shadows, etc) and addons will try to fix this....than some other sim will take over this "standard" and others who "try" these sim will see how EASY it is to use and probably also would like to take in count that some addons will not work untill a later moment. But what they get is a working uptodate standard with probably a nice setup on release which does elliminate a lot of problems.

All these unstable and user unfriendly behave is related to a platform with a HUGE SDK which also means a lot of addons with a huge  impact on the whole stability of P3D which leads to frustration to a lot of users.

I think it is not state of the art....we need a stable core with a lot of "addon functions" included to stabilize the sim and core engine and keep the after market busy with airports, airport live etc. But weather, lightning, shadow, clouds, rain, water, world, should be "out of the box".

Fact: 17 hours "young" topic for ONE Addon update with far more than 53 replies......it says a lot in between the lines (NOTE: There is a second topic with problems - 16 hours old and also 10 replies....)

There are user who programmed some scripts to help them out "not to forget" to run EF to avoid having some trouble.....

I am amazed!

I was going to write a longish piece detailing my experience with REX and EF in particular but decided not to, as my experience 

will surely draw much negativity as is evidenced above.

Suffice it to say EF works flawlessly for me.
