Will my system be compatible to run the PMDG 737 NGX?

Featured Replies

I was thinking about purchasing a PMDG 737 NGX for my fsx se will my computer be able to run the PMDG 737 NGX?

Specs:

Windows 8.1 x64

Intel core i3 3217U (Quad core processor)

4GB DDR3 RAM

With Intel integrated graphics card.

No. To be honest buddy, I would be putting that money towards a new PC. A much more powerful PC with a dedicated graphics card. Buying that aircraft to run on that computer would be a complete waste of money. It would bring it to its knees. Actually, I am surprised you run FSX on it at all. Even without any add-ons.

5800X3D - Strix X570-E - 32GB 3600Mhz DDR4 - AMD RX 9070 XT- Samsung 980 Pro x2

I suspect it would struggle a bit with the PMDG 737 as it is fairly demanding on a PC. There is another option to try however, and that is the iFly 737, which is a little less demanding on systems even though it is just as good a simulation of the 737 NG as the PMDG version and does in fact include more variants than the PMDG version.

Not only that, if you buy the iFly 737 from the Flight 1 website, they offer a money back guarantee if you are not satisfied, so effectively you could try the iFly 737 'for free'.

I be shocked if you could run even the iFly 737 on that system (1.8GHz core speed).

For curiosity and comparison sakes I'd love to know how default aircraft are running and what FSX settings you're currently using.  I have a basic laptop with an i5 processor (2.53GHz) and integrated graphics card and FSX was a slide show.

System Specs:  I9-13900KF, NVIDIA 4070TI, Quest 3, Multiple Displays, Lots of TERRIFIC friends, 3 cats, and a wonderfully stubborn wife.

I agree, I don't see any way that either of the 737's would work. But, that said, trying the iFly can't hurt anything.

Intel 10700K @ 5.1Ghz, Asus Hero Maximus motherboard, Noctua NH-U12A cooler, Corsair Vengeance Pro 32GB 3200 MHz RAM, RTX 2060 Super GPU, Cooler Master HAF 932 Tower, Thermaltake 1000W Toughpower PSU, Windows 10 Professional 64-Bit, 100TB of disk storage. Klaatu barada nickto.

In fairness, I had (still have somewhere) an old Hewlett Packard Pavilion laptop (circa 2006) which has an Intel dual core processor, runs Windows Vista and has if I recall correctly, 2GB of RAM, and that will cheerfully run FSX with the A2A Boeing B17G flying around busy places such Seattle with autogen up fairly high.

We sometimes tend to forget that FSX is limited to 32 Bit computing processes, so it doesn't need, nor can it make use of either, the kind of flying machine 64 Bit computer you need for P3D. I think a lot of people might be surprised at how well the OP's computer could do with the iFly 737 so long as the graphics option sliders were not maxed out, and the beauty of that is, as I say, it can effectively be tried for free.

Ya, I know my PC runs ok with the default aircraft in fsx.

Ok, I'll try the iFly 737. Thank for the suggestion.

Even the iFly737 will barely run in that system.

Possibly, but if it runs with the default airliner at a good rate, the iFly might run okay too, and if not, a refund can be sought.

The default aircraft ran on my fsx work pretty smoothly without any lags. My frame rate target setting is 60 fps and only the graphics and the scenery settings are at medium high the others are at high.

Honestly

What kind of graphics card can I install it into my computer?

I believe that is a mobile processor and is in a laptop, correct? If so, you can't. You will need a new computer if you want a pc with a dedicated video card.
