If there is a fancier one, then great, but it's not what I found when I did a search for it, so maybe they should have a bit better SEO if that's the case.

I just googled "Manfred Jahn C-47 most recent" and this was the second hit:

Note that it includes a download link.

Didn't seem that challenging.

EDIT: One additional point - you didn't mention the cockpit chatter or the interactive checklist that have been features of Manfred's version for at least a couple of years.  Wondering if those were present in the version you reviewed.

As somebody sitting on the fence because of the cost of the AH version, I do appreciate the in-depth review and the detail about the AH you went into . Thanks for that!

So, not the first hit. Which kind of explains why I used the one I did. 🤣

As I say, it's free, I encouraged people to check it out. The rest is up to them. Nevertheless, when the AH one gets patched, I'm gonna do a review update and I will include the shinier version of the Jahn DC-3 in that too.

Where did you get this?? Mine (Manual version says 3.14) looks nothing like this. Really old (not complaining).

This looks like a modern version if that's the right way of saying it.

Sorry, I misspoke.  It was the first hit - right below the video results.  At the top of the page.  With no scrolling required.

I'm talking about a Google search, not an SOH search.

It looked like this:

pnWWMSzLj

Some real SEO optimization needed there, right?

Glad to hear you'll be doing an update with the current Manfred Jahn version and the patched AH.  Hope you'll call out the crew voices and the interactive checklist on Manfred's, too. I'm sure the AH will be terrific with a few adjustments, but those features make for a nice experience with Manfred's, too

And as you say - it's free!

The images in YoYo's post are of the new Aeroplane Heaven payware version, just released - not the Manfred Jahn freeware version.

@YoYo - looking good there in my favorite of the current AH civilian liveries.

Helps that it was my adoptive hometown's airline... back in the day.

I enjoyed your review, Al despite differences between versions of freeware used vs current state. I have neither aeroplane.

So, acoustically banging out Tenpole Tudor's arguably most famous track (and one of my favourites!) whilst wearing a Roman solider's helmet and an A-HA teeshirt (I think)... You've really broken the mould on this video, sir!  Bonkers, Chock, just bonkers!

Well if you think that's bonkers, you should see what I'm recording at the moment for the next review. 🤣

And yes, well spotted, it is an AHA T-Shirt with some stills from the drawings used in the superb video for Take On Me. I think that's probably a song which everyone likes, not least because of the video for it.

Can someone explain the avionics on this to me?

I can't get the ADF needle to point toward a tuned NDB. If I tune to a VOR, there's no way I can seem to track the needle from a specified course heading.

If I tune to an ILS it seems to automatically select the runway course heading for the needle (which fine it works, but why???).

This doesn't seem realistic to me. I was hoping to navigate via VOR and NDBs in this plane and tinker with navigating via the sextant addon in areas without radio navigation. But so far this is not looking possible.

I checked for you ADF - it works without problem. I did test flight around airport (near 100 km) and back without problems by ADF gauge.

Its a green arrow.

Hmm weird for me it appeared the needle was pointing toward the VOR I was tuned to and not the NDB. I’ll check it again.

Maybe your avionics is off? Radio use avionics power, not battery only (for example ATC will be grayed, 2D GPS pop up will be black even battery internal is ON position).

No it’s not grayed out (although there is a bug where it switches the power to everything off even though it was previously switched on). I’ve found the com and nav radio frequency is never grayed out when power is off but the adf is.
