April 12, 20206 yr I'm beginning to get the feeling that armchair pilots are going to find out, that they are not as good a pilot as they think they are. what do you think? J. R.
April 12, 20206 yr Well if they only fly an armchair, then it doesn't really matter, does it? If your armchair crashes, it is unlikely to be fatal, and even if it was we'd never know if the pilot was at fault because there is no requirement for an armchair to be fitted with either a cvr or fdr. April 12, 20206 yr My last ride was an SZD 48 Jantar Standard 2. I could barely fit in it! 🤣 Edited April 12, 20206 yr by charliearon Removed copywrite photo. Post link instead
April 12, 20206 yr What if you are on a bender, and let's say you have a hard tile floor. Let's also say that you somehow are so hammered that you fall back, bashing your head on the hard surface. That could be fatal. Cheers, Pete Pete Solov - Lake in the Hills 3CK and Schaumburg Regional 06CProud AOPA Member - PPL 2001Real World Piper Cherokee Pilot

That was a fun plane to fly, but then they got rid of them and it was back to the Piper Archer. Cheers, Pete Edited April 12, 20206 yr by charliearon Removed copywrite photo! April 12, 20206 yr When the instructor took me up to get me checked out in the DA 20 he wanted to show me a spin because the plane was spin certified. I told him "if you want to be wearing my Burger King lunch then you can show me the spin." He declined. I never wanted to experience a spin! That was a great plane though, and the only plane I ever flew with a stick. I was actually quite easy to get used to. Cheers, Pete I fly the Da20 about once a month, its a lovely machine and built right down the road from me in London, Ont. April 12, 20206 yr Yep lots of fun but very long and I remember they had a pice of Fiberglass below the tail because people would often have tail strikes when they didn’t come in for landing flat enough. April 12, 20206 yr Reminds me of the first time I went up... my instructor said, "oh.... you've done this before" Only from my armchair. Lol
April 12, 20206 yr Same here i remember my first spin in a 150 in 96, the plane came out of it on his own, i just had time to reduce the power it was already out, and i didn't have to realize anything ... my instructor told me that we did 2 and a half or 1 and a half laps , all i remember at the time is being completely disoriented.. i have to admit the first time it was pretty rock and roll... henri
