The tool that Dave provided worked like a charm for me and I've been running FSX since last Friday without any additional problems. Since the steps involved might be a little hard for someone without a lot of computer expertise to follow, I imagine MS took a little extra time to make the instructions more user friendly before publishing the KB article. If I have any future FSX problems, I will definitely skip calling the MS Games support number (never got further than a promise to call me back in 72 hours) and go directly to sending a message to [email protected], since I received the initial response from Dave within a few hours of my first email.By the way, I'm very happy with FSX so far although I have the advantage of running it on a new system I built last month primarily for FSX.Good luck to those of you still stuck with 1722, based on the last message from Dave, you should be back in business within a day or two.

Ugh. I wish I got on Dave's "Good list" so I could work on it tonight when I actually have time. Oh well. More waiting.

Good to see the resultant 1722 is being solved. But are they also providing a fix for the initial problem resulting in the Product Activation Error which results in the reinstall which results in the... 1722? :D

One step at a time Paul :(Its MS we are dealing with here, we are lucky to have got this tool so quickly.... Usually they take 6 months to do anything :)What concerns me, is if you read the FAQ's about the activation, we are granted 2 "free" activations.... in activating FSX for a 2nd time, have we used up both our activations?? Or will we be given a third? Since it wasnt our fault it screwed up the first time. Also I'd like to know what happens if I fancy buying another hard drive.... and I've aleady used up my 2 activations....

Luis,I apologize but when Dave provided the tool to me last week, he was pretty adamant about me not sending the file to anyone else or posting it anywhere. Even though I didn't sign a contract, I committed to complying with his request and I'd like to keep to my promise. Hopefully, it will be posted on the MS FSX support page today so you shouldn't have to wait much longer.

When I click the exe I get a black square flash up and it disappears before I can doo anything. I know it is me but how do I use it. Help please?

When I ran it, I used the run command from the start menu. You'll need to type in the path and name of the exe file as well as the command line parameters that Dave provided. The tool runs almost instantaneously so don't expect to see anything even if it runs successfully. If everything works according to plan, you should be able reinstall without getting the error 1722 at the end.Good luck.

Nothing on the FSX support site so far...hopefully tomorrow, but at least its some very good news! Was getting worried that the 90 bucks I spent on the game was useless!

This is getting to be bullcrap. There are people on this forum with the so called fix and they cant share it? We'll be waiting till god knows when on microsoft to put it on the support website. I havent been able to use the sim for a week now.

Would be nice but they aren't sharing so not much we can do, also MS still has not posted anything.

I was one of the people who provided log files related to the error 1722 problem to the FSX and during this process, I received the repair tool from Dave Templin and was able to successfully reinstall FSX last week. When Dave sent the tool to me, he stated the following:"Incidentally, please do not share this tool with anyone or post it anywhere."I told him that I would comply with his request since I never thought more than a week would go by without this being made generally available. I've received several request for the tool and I'm really struggling with whether or not I should send the file despite what I said to Dave previously. On one hand, I know how frustating it is to not be able to reinstall the software but on the other hand, I don't want to go back on my word and also I don't want to send something out that will faciliate software piracy. If anyone from the FSX team reads this, can't you just release the repair tool for general use so I don't have to struggle with this decision?
