April 16, 20206 yr I have yet to hear anything specific about updated airports. Some of them that come to mind that are way outdated and/or totally missing in V4 (I'm talking strictly default) are: KSTL, KORD, KIAD, KSEA, KATL, FAOR, SEQM, and I know there are others. I know there are 3PP options but I want to know about default only.
April 16, 20206 yr The developer of fsaerodata has posted on their official forum that for now he will not be doing a version for P3d5 because LM updated almost everything that fsaerodata covers. ARTCC/FIR boundaries are an exception. I can't say I've checked this myself, though.

I haven't checked to see if the ILS approach frequencies are all correct, but I would assume they are. Of course, the real KORD is still "a work in progress" as far as construction and upgrades, but it's a lot closer to reality now in the sim. KSTL has the new northwest runway 11/29. I haven't checked any of the others on your list. Jim BarrettLicensed Airframe & Powerplant Mechanic, Avionics, Electrical & Air Data Systems Specialist. Unfortunate (for me) as I just renewed my subscription a couple of months ago, not expecting P3D V5 to arrive so soon. I suspected that they might not see much point in adapting their service to Version 5, since so much of the default navaid and approach data has been made current to the real world. Of course, as time goes on, ILS frequencies will change, new runways will come into service, more VORs and NDBs will be decomissioned etc. so eventually the sim default nav data will slowly become obsolete again, but for now, it's pretty much up-to-date. Possibly, LM will commit to keeping it revised in future P3D updates. Apparently, another issue is that the structure of the BGL files that contain the nav data has changed from what has always been used in the past, so FSAeroData would have to develop new tools to create PsDV5-specific nav updates. For now, it's not worth doing for them... Jim BarrettLicensed Airframe & Powerplant Mechanic, Avionics, Electrical & Air Data Systems Specialist. To me, Jose from FSAerodata has always been great in product and support, perhaps MSFS will be good to him in some way.

The introduction of the expanded comm frequency range is also a factor. You can still use the fsaerodata ARTCC BGL file which for some reason was not updated with sectors by LM in V5.

In my case that won’t be a problem because I have never used the default ATC. I positioned my aircraft at the threshold of each runway at the updated KORD, and verified that all the ILS systems are working with the frequencies listed on current charts. At my home airport (KELM), the r/w outer marker transmitters for the ILS 6 and 24 approaches were removed several years ago, but even in P3D 4.5 they were still there. They are no longer present in Version 5, so it appears LM did a pretty thorough job of updating the default nav aid data. April 16, 20206 yr The two airports near me have been updated. CYHZ has the extension of runway 05/23 and expanded cargo area from several years ago, and CYAW has been transformed from a fixed wing air base with a long runway to a heliport with only a short runway. Level of detail is still very low on default airports (textures might actually be uglier if that’s possible?) but the layouts are definitely updated. They also added an air strip to Sable Island. They updated a few Canadian Air Bases to have buildings and basic parking. So they didn't just touch up bigger airports, but also smaller ones. April 16, 20206 yr We could probably compare the (default) scenery folders of 4.5 and V5 to make a definite list of added and modified airports. Edited April 16, 20206 yr by Tuskin38
April 16, 20206 yr My small home airport Ehgg has been totally updated. I also made a flight to a small island in The Netherlands and even on this even smaller grass strip the taxiways were there as well as the ferry harbour and the beaches. Edited April 16, 20206 yr by rob0203
April 16, 20206 yr Can anyone tell me if EGPF, EGGW or the canary islands had updates? I do like to use default airports with some ADE mods to save on frames. April 16, 20206 yr So KBOS 14/32 has now been added! Looks quite similar to the KBOS in FSW... Edited April 16, 20206 yr by flybius
