Alan - I said this a comment on the utube

Honest - I enjoyed every minute of it and I learned a helluv a lot from it - even moreso in an accent that goes well with me who also stems from 1/2 way down the East Lancs Rd - 85 years ago I knew absolutely nothing about all the fuss about DX 12 but now I do

I can't say I was impressed by the final graphics - it was very "posterised" I was hanging back from jumping in but I will give it a go - on a separate install and add bits of Orbyx as I go John Heaton

I notice that in the options you have Active Sky weather enabled. 😄

I won't speculate too much on the implications there, but it seems to indicate some good news.

Re: Active Sky. That shows up because I had a stab at installing it, but it doesn't really want to play with V5.

Yup, I realise that sometimes my videos can be a bit on the long side and that's not normally what garners a massive subscriber list on youtube (apparently somewhere around 8 minutes is the optimal according to most metrics), however, in these present times with many people sat at home, I figure the more things people have to keep them entertained, the better, so a long vid is no bad thing at the moment. Besides which, I don't make my vids for the self-serving purpose of getting 'likes' on youtube (which is nice of course), I make them to inform people about stuff to do with aeroplanes and sims, and because I enjoy making them, so really, I don't mind if I don't have millions of subscribers, I'd prefer to have a few who genuinely appreciate the effort. Or at least that's my excuse. 🤣

It's probably less stressful if you don't have to worry what your millions of subscribers are going to think about your every video.

I might think about P3D, but I would definitely need a PC upgrade as a 2Gig nvidia card wouldn't cut it..

Good job, sir!

Well, technically, a 2 Gig card would do it, but almost certainly not with all the shiny options sliders cranked up high, so visually you'd maybe be a bit worse off. Having said that,v5 does at least genuinely attempt to offload the work onto the GPU so it is actually doing something more than using electricity and looking shiny.

Of course for anyone looking at getting a better GPU, the good thing about all this new flights sims on the way malarkey, what with P3D v5 already out, and Asobo's MSFS and REMEX Deadstick on the way, is that loads of people are going to be updating their GPUs to the latest shiny ones, so the chances are good that some perfectly adequate, but less shiny ones are likely to get put in clearance sales.

Thanks Alan. Very nice departure from the noise coming out of the herd all yelling "the sky is falling!!👍".
