P3DV5

Featured Replies

Well I am thoroughly dissapointed something must not be right!

System Specs:

AMD5 Ryzen 3600X 6 Core - 3.8GHZ

16GB DDR5 RAM

nVidia RTX 2060 8 GB

M2 SSD 512GB

I ran P3DV5 after a fresh install and no addons, and on my usual settings I'mm getting about 13/14 FPS? I could be completely wrong but surely that doesnt seem right?

Please can anyone advise?

That does seem unusually low.  What resolution?  Using addon scenery?  What location?  Did you use P3Dv4 before?  If so, what kind of performance did you get there?

Very bizzare.

1920x1080, all default scenery no addons yet. At the Randolf AFB in the default scenario that opens with P3D.

Used P3Dv4 prior to a system upgrade and i got a steady 30 at least!

Agreed, something's not right, but we probably need more info to help, like your settings and a view of your CPU and GPU utilization.  However, it might also be wise to just wait a day or so for the hotfix before bothering to troubleshoot?

A shot like this really helps determine what's slowing you down: https://i.imgur.com/BGwrd1E.jpg

You can take a look at these couple posts, since you also have a 6 core 12 thread processor...

If I were betting, I'd bet first that you have a CPU bottleneck because of P3D processes cannibalizing each other due to (SMT) multi-threading.

Something's definitely not right there. Have you got the latest drivers for your system's hardware installed?

Had the same thing, is your fps on lock?

I was getting 13-14 FPS until I realized it was because my laptop wasn't plugged in. Immediately fixed it, in case you have a laptop.

All drivers are up to date for everthing including chipset / GPU.

Tried with tripple buffering, frame lock, no frame lock, vertical sync etc.

I have also noticed when I select and airport I get a CTD with NTDLL.dll error, could this be linked?

Could be linked. I run same processor with Radeon vii on 4k all sliders full, and getting average 30fps. Looks like some driver error. Did you install / reinstall the latest AMD chipset drivers? Lastly, I would reinstall p3dv5, as that can be corrupted which may cause this NTDLL error.

Yes all the AMD Chipset drivers are upto date!

The performance issue is the last thing I'm bothered about now as I cant even seem to select another airport without a CTD With no error! Bring back FS98...

What kind of temps are you running?  Is the cpu throttled down?

A screenshot of your core usages as cwburnett suggested would be super helpful.

Well, "FS98's" not gonna' be the solution to ANYTHING at this juncture.  But faced with the issues you're having, I'd be running some "repairs" on the P3D components, and if THAT failed, I'd be considering a complete uninstall/reinstall.

I'm an Intel guy, with no AMD CPU experience.  But your system specs look like you ought to be seeing at least 40fps with sliders somewhere in the middle, single monitor, and fps unlimited.

Thanks for everyones help and input.

I did a repair of P3Dv5 and noticed Windows 10 was missing some updates.

CTD's has cleared and I'm getting very good frames now so Im impressed haha!

I dont think the P3D setup file likes to be ran during another setup file (exe) aswell, I think thats potentially where the issue could have started.

Thanks again!

Glad to hear you got it sorted, have fun!
