I can report I've successfully moved my ORBX Library to a different SSD using the method advised by Reader and Ramon here.

Thanks!

Another question: Can I have ORBX 2 Libraries for P3Dv5 on different disks?

Thanks

Me too, but I decided to "Verify Files" on a sample of my sceneries and found a couple which failed proclaiming that the needed information was missing. So in the end I spent quite a long time Verifying Files on each one. On those that failed I found I had to re-Verify once or twice more to recover, but one stubborn one (KOS) was only fixed by deleting its entry in my Orbx-Downloads folder to force it to re-download to verify.

I don't know why I had such problems -- much more so for my P3Dv4 installed files than P3Dv5 ones.

I have posted this on the Orbx Central support forum, but I'm not really sure how long it'll take till I get a reply. Meanwhile i'm really grounded, as so much of my world is provided by Orbx scenery.

The drive on which I have my P3Dv4 and P3Dv5 installations, including Orbx library, is getting a bit full, so I wanted to move the Library to a separate drive which has plenty of space.

I followed the instructions in the Orbx Central user guide, but I have encountered a serious problem which now leaves me with none of my Orbx sceneries working.

1 The instructions said to Remove the Library -- done (this actually is the "Delete" as clarified on the Support forum. It doesn't actually delete the files.
2 Then close central - done. (my X button is set to close it -- it doesn't go to the tray, so that was easy).
3 Move the folder to the other drive: I actually copied it instead, in case of any corruption whilst moving. I'd prefer to test it then delete the original.
4 In Central again, "Create new library"., give it a name, enter the new location, click "Save":  Done.

But then a RED message appears "The library location isn't empty". I cannot "Save" only close. This leaves me with no Orbx products installed at all!

I assume I've done something wrong, but I followed the instructions step by step.

BTW using the "Scan for Libraries" option instead of "Create a New Library", which seems a more logical choice, lists both my original and the new copy,  It allows me to select either, but on pressing "Save" it also comes up with the same red message.

It seems this facility is only designed for making a new empty library.

If anyone here has succeeded in moving the library, please tell me how. At present it looks like I have re-install everything. That's many Gb of data -- all the Europe stuff including the Regions and True Earth packages where available, and many European airports. Plus the recent Vector for P3Dv5 which pleasantly surprised me by not affecting frame rates (after disabling my UTX vectors).

Pete, here is w What I did.  I took my original library on F:/ drive (500gb) and copied / moved (deleted it after I saw it work, so moved.) to my new M2 1TB G drive then repathed it in OrbxCentral and it worked!

YMMV but this is exactly what I did.

Best,

I didn't have my ORBX airports installed yet when I moved ORBX libraries. But Global Range and Europe are all verified Ok.

I got Orbx to download and install all my Orbx products to my new 1Tb SSD and that's where they will stay, isolated on the SSD and as updates come along they automatic get updated. It is all soooo easy.
When I reinstalled Windows 10 recently and then P3D v5 I then install Orbx Central, log In and Orbx asks me where I want to install Orbx Backups and Libraries and in each case I point to my SSD where the Backups and Orbx Libaries are (all 82 of them including 6 Real Earth products) and they are all recognized by Orbx and I am ready to go again. Nothing to download and install. Wow!!!!
And so that is where they stay on the SSD, once installed I have got them forever no more loooog downloading times.
It took me awhile to save up the money to purchase the 1TB Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus V-Nand and with over 80 products installed on it now I still have 367GB room left!!!

I also might add that in my case with such a huge amount of scenery installed and all selected in P3D v5 it takes only about 3.5 minutes for P3D to start. And when started it runs so smoothly.
That is really the way to go if you afford it.

Kind regards

Richard
