3rd Party developers and addons for FSX.. Will there be any hesitence?

Featured Replies

Probably not at this point. I am already struggling with the numbers like many other users, and I can't really see the point in spending money on addons when the first priority is to get the sim running right. But I doubt I would even be willing to spend money on something that fixed issues unless those issues impacted seriously on my FSX experience. Any money is going to get spent on hardware. Period. There is no software solution other than winding back FSX to near FS9 levels, I'm already convinced of that after a weeks worth of trying every tweak under the sun!Allcott

Eaglesoft will continue to offer ALL of its products for BOTH versions of Flight Simulator....we are still dedicated to maximizing the enjoyment of Flightsimulation enthusiast everywhere. We are confident that the issues with FSX will be resolved and folks can get back to enjoying flightsimulation again!Look for more from us soon:-)

Well my first FSX payware purchase was MYTRAFFIC X.Its got alot of problems starting with a do it yourself install.I posted a review at Simmarket and because it was not a glowing positive review, it was promply deleted.Just be WARNED. There is a rush to get anything FSX related into our hands. As with Mytraffic, alot of the problems are known before hand and rather than wait to resolve them and get the proper tools from MS, its dumped on us and becomes a wait until we can patch it.What is going to burn me is that alot of my FS9 payware planes are going to be easily converted over with minumal effort but Im still going to be charged.Think Ill wait around until a converter is released. Which Im sure is already in the works....

Eaglesoft FSX Aircraft install seamlessly without user hassle and initial reports are very positive:-)

>....we are still dedicated to>maximizing the enjoyment of Flightsimulation enthusiast>everywhere.>Look for more from us soon:-)>>and by this shameless plug id say youre also dedicated to maximizing profits, NOT that theres anything wrong with that :-)Dave

I'm with you on this one. As it is now, there is no way I'll be buying any add-on for FSX for the foreseeable future. There have to be major improvements in the overall performance level before any consideration of add-ons. In it's default state I think I can eventually reach a point where enjoyable VFR flying will be possible. Maybe even some light GA instrument work. But there is nothing in sight that would make me look at adding anything to this already overburdened sim.Doug

I purchased the FSX Eaglesoft plane this evening. I have tweaked my system to get a very acceptable 20 to 25 fps sitting on my home airport runway with the Maule. Big cities and large airports drag it to its knees and I don't care. I'll use FSX for site seeing, missions and shared cockpit(multiplayer). And FS9 for heavy iron and Tongass/Misty Fjords. The Realair (FS9 version-not everything works) gives me 15 to 18 fps. The Liberty XL2 gives me 10 to 11 fps. I assume my system is right on the edge and the Liberty's extra instrumentation pretty much chokes the horse. Other's mileage will differ.I'll keep it as my first (and probably last) FSX plane add-on until capable hardware is available. And that is quite a statement from me; I'm an add-on junkie and Flight One probably has me as a line item in their budget. LOL. The exception will be for the Realair SF260 and Scout update. The flight model,VC quality and gauge smoothness is unsurpassed by any add-on I have flown. Or if developers figure out how to optimize their products for maximum fidelity and minimum overhead. (no small task).Bob...

Thanks for posting a positive Bob:-) The FSX Liberty XL2 represents the same load to FSX as it does to FS9....so of course everyones mileage will vary with FSX, hardware, etc. From a development standpoint, we have confidence that things will improve not only with the FSX itself but also with DX10 and hardware upgrades.Seems like we've heard the negative song before...FS98 to FS2000 comes to mind along with FS2002 and FS2004:-)

Hi RonI was curious about your comment stating that you were sure that the issues with FSX would get worked out. I really do hope you are right. Were you or one of your staff lucky enough to have the opportunity to review FSX prior to it's golden release? So you too believe that DX10 is the key to success? If you could expand on the DX10 issue here it may have a positive effect since there were many who are on the fence simply because they really dont know for sure.RegardsBob

Sorry, just reread your statement. You said "confident" RegardsBob

We happen to think that negative postings and complaints serve as a distraction and are non productive..the job is hard enough by itself without constant "fix this right now" or worse coming from anyone who feels like "getting it off his chest" Wish I had a better answer Bob, but we'll be patient and let the guys do their work:-)

Ohh man! The eaglesoft planes will bring fsx to its knees. I love the xlr2 and it is pretty much the only plane i fly in fs9 any more but it runs like a dog in fs9 so i can only imagine it in fsx. This plane takes 10fps from me in fs9 and in fsx there is no margin for this type of frame loss. I was thinking about this the other day wondering how eaglesoft was going to be able to get their stable running on fsx with the amount of overhead that their planes require. Id love to have it in fsx but not at the sacrifice of already well documented lackluster fps.
