July 7, 20205 yr Neuman and Wloch have said than they were on a ten-year project which obviously means a lot of DLC (and hopefully not the P3D manic twice a year updates/HF which break everything đ). We may have an idea of what they could be in an interview Neuman gave last year. Not necessarily aircraft or sceneries... And thereâs other data like, we know where the whales are, we know where the rhinos run around, we know where all the cars and the trains are â and that data is actually freely available.â Neumann cites NASAâs data as an example, saying that the organisation has a map showing all of the worldâs wildfires. âSo, people ask me, could you do the Amazon fires right now? And itâs like, yup. And could I show the decay of the forests? I sure could,â he adds.  https://www.pcgamesn.com/microsoft-flight-simulator/open-source   Dominique Simming since 1981 - [email protected] GHz with 16 GB of RAM and a 1080 with 8 GB VRAM running a 27" @ 2560*1440 - Windows 10 - Warthog HOTAS - MFG pedals - MSFS Standard version with Steam Â
July 7, 20205 yr Yes, they did say that MSFS is a 10 year project, remember that they started, as they have said, 5 years ago. Robin "Onward & Upward" ... To the Stars, & Beyond...Â
July 7, 20205 yr Theyâll be busy enough for the next couple of years with VR, RayTracing, seasons etc. I think thereâs no limit on what they can do with this sim. I think our limitations are bound to the potato hardware that some of us are still on.Â

An update to DX12 wonât bring much revenue if any. Now, a DLC carrying a live map of all the whales on Earth would be an instant success  đłÂ đ°! July 7, 20205 yr Yeah I think DX12 and raytracing would fall under a version update rather than a DLC even though they would bring some rather big improvements I just donât think they can be marketed as a DLC quite like a map of Whale locations. On the question of DLCs I wonder whether Asobo will continue to develop airports beyond the 80 high level airports included. Seems like they could have a nice income stream there or is that not part of the roadmap given we have probably 100 third party developers out there ready to fill that void. We can nitpick here or there, trees, waters, mesh etc. but what strikes me from the beginning is their appetite for innovation. They may release aircraft and sceneries but I also see a lot of products born from live data as quoted above (fires, floods, trains, ships even bird migration flows đ etc.), reconstruction of famous sites or city centers (didnât they make some work on Machu Pichu for Hololens ?), etc. The whole project of recreating an open world for our favorite hobby is fascinating but this is not, in my opinion, the only purpose (other simulation games, tourism promotion etc..). And DLC would, in this case, target simmers but not only simmers. July 7, 20205 yr I hope they won't forget that there's always things to improve in the core flight sim features.
July 8, 20205 yr Just saw an article here (in German) that is about someone reporting that the "Ingame-Shop" would be called "Flight Marketplace", which allegedly would have freeware and payware content and the currency for payments would be called "Flight Coins". The article also says that last night the "Flight Simulator Partner Program" web site had been online but has been taken down again. Siggy Schwarz

July 8, 20205 yr The Marketplace existing has been known for the while, you can see the tab on screenshots/videos showing the main menu. What we don't know is their plans for it. Edited July 8, 20205 yr by Tuskin38

Except that I don't want to have twice a year updates (or more !) like P3D has, breaking compability here and there for, at the end, marginal improvements. Dominique Simming since 1981 - [email protected] GHz with 16 GB of RAM and a 1080 with 8 GB VRAM running a 27" @ 2560*1440 - Windows 10 - Warthog HOTAS - MFG pedals - MSFS Standard version with Steam Â
