July 11, 20205 yr I posted about this maybe a year ago - and changed my CMOS battery. Periodically (actually quite often) my Windows 10 clock is wrong.... typically behind indicating a bad battery. But I already changed it out. July 11, 20205 yr My FSX PC back in 2005 I ran windows XP for about 6 years before the battery was replaced, my present one is 3 years old an ASUS Formula still the same battery. Raymond Fry.
July 11, 20205 yr Administrators Just in case....https://www.windowscentral.com/how-manage-time-servers-windows-10 Odd that you have to keep replacing the battery. If power is off to the computer, is it still plugged into a power source? July 11, 20205 yr I had the same issue with the ASUS Z87 motherboard. Would never keep time unless I used a program that would sync the time with the internet on every start up. You can read more about the ASUS motherboard time issues here: https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?35490-Sabertooth-Z87-Bios-Clock-Issue John Cottreau Specs: black box thingy with spinning fans, lights and a bunch of wires that go to screens with pretty colours and a keyboard with many keys. The black box thingy also has a push button activated coffee cup holder. John C.

July 11, 20205 yr Install a NTP client. here's one: http://www.satsignal.eu/ntp/setup.html Jim Driskell PS - you can check your time here: https://time.is/ Edited July 11, 20205 yr by jmdriskell James M Driskell, Maj USMC (Ret)
July 11, 20205 yr Commercial Member Modern windows versions should be able to sync to NTP out of the box with no additional software required. Cheers Luke Kolin I make simFDR, the most advanced flight data recorder for FSX, Prepar3D and X-Plane.
July 11, 20205 yr OK, so why is his machine loosing time? Or better yet, why doesn't his machine sync automatically? James M Driskell, Maj USMC (Ret)
July 11, 20205 yr Author I'm not sure as I've checked all the automatic Windows 10 sync stuff and its connected to the internet 24/7. I did bump the vcore to 1.3v. It was set to AUTO and it went up to 1.296v. So while having it at 1.3v all the time probably isn't the best, so far the clock is sticking. I can always change it back. I don't recall if the automatic NTP sync is on by default. It's under date and time settings in Settings for Windows 10. July 14, 20205 yr Just checked and the builtin NTP function on my Windows 10 machine seems to be on by default. Some HAM radio operators who use some automatic digital protocols like FT8 have found that the default NTP functions of Windows 10 are not accurate enough for that protocol which is very time sensitive. They recommend the NTP client I mentioned above which I run. Jim James M Driskell, Maj USMC (Ret)
