Pipistrel Virus, A new Addition

Recommended Posts

Well their earlier aircraft is called the "Sinus" you know.   😈

A person could say, "Hey I traded in my Sinus for a Virus".

But with today's pandemic, one can get a "Virus" stuck in their "Sinus", which seems rather a poor public image... Just saying...

This has me thinking, maybe all of the deluxe version additional aircraft were done by a 3rd party? which is why we haven't seen them in the beta yet? If so maybe they could be higher quality, which would definitely take the jump to the deluxe.

All of the included aircraft were done in-house by Asobo's modelers and graphic artists. The used data directly from the manufacturers.

Wasnt that already included in the deluxe or premium deluxe edition? *confused*

Indeed it's not news, it will be included with Premium edition, and was announced at the same time as the rest of the aircraft list.

It's a closed-cockpit microlight, quite similar to the Flight Design CTLS you get in the standard version, and both are powered by the Rotax 912.

I see that the Virus has a service ceiling of 22,300 feet, and the Sinus has a service ceiling of something like 28,900 feet. (!)

Holy hypoxia batman.

What's 'tweeting'?

It's the new way to be antisocial whilst claiming you are using 'social' media.

Back on topic, the Virus is actually a really good aeroplane. Has an optional ballistic recovery chute, can tow gliders, is approved for spins and next year there'll be an electric version going into production too. Pretty versatile thing. Rubbish name though, which is why the Indian Air Force and Navy who have them as trainers, call theirs the Garud, after the Hindu and Buddhist Sun Bird. Which is a much better name and is also where the Garuda Indonesia airline name comes from.

I'm guessing they thought the joy of flying the plane would be infectious so therefore called it the Virus.  but not really the best name imo especially now.
