Need some recommendations from European flyers

There are two regions that I don't tire to fly in Europe : mainland Greece and the Aegean sea islands and the Alps. Some large airports but plenty of mid- and small sized ones.  The Alps are of course more challenging in general. Greece and the Agean airports are sometimes tricky too though.

I wonder how Santorini, Greece, looks in MSFS.  It sure is beautiful in real life.

http://www.ead.eurocontrol.int/ use to cover most aerodrome charts although it requires free registration. I put a list together at http://viaintercity.com/forums/general-discussion/flight-planning-and-routing-resources/

Thanks my friend!

Have to advertise Austria a bit here for GA flying :)

Nice spot to start for flights around the alps is Zell am See (LOWZ), because you' re in the middle of the mountains already.

Also great is departing Salzburg (LOWS) to the south, following first the Salzach and then the Gastein valey, making a bit of a detour fly by Großglockner and then to find the Inn valey and land in Innsbruck (LOWI).

Third departure airstrip I can recommend is Mariazell (LOGM), short rwy GA, gliders only.

Cheers!

That's my local patch in reality; if the dev tools let us put custom POI markers in I might label up all the hills I've climbed(!) and try put some sort of sightseeing route together.

I hope Darley Moor is evident in the sim. I learned to paraglide there on the tow rope. Be great to have a virtual “drop in”.

I usually fly in the US but I'm looking for some great smaller to medium size cities to fly to and from into some mountain and bush airports.

Any areas for recommendation that will give some good scenery and performance.  I want to stay away from huge cities.

Take either the TBM 930 or the DA62 and fly these routes for the interesting airports:

  • Chambéry into Courchevel, both in France.

  • Innsbruck, Austria to Saanen, Switzerland.

  • Reykjavik (not Keflavik) into Ísafjörður, both in Iceland.

  • Oban into Barra, both in Scotland.

  • Stavanger to Alesund, both in Norway (to fly over the biggest Fjords).

*If* it gets made, the Locher / Sarentino private airfield is *a lot* of fun to fly into:

AMD Ryzen 5800X3D; MSI RTX 3080 Ti ; 32GB Corsair 3200 MHz; ASUS VG35VQ 35" (3440 x 1440)
Fulcrum One yoke; Thrustmaster TCA Captain Pack Airbus edition; MFG Crosswind rudder pedals; miniCockpit FCU; CPFlight MCP 737; Logitech FIP x3; TrackIR

MSFS; Fenix A320; A2A PA-24; HPG H145; PMDG 737-600; AIG; RealTraffic; PSXTraffic; FSiPanel; REX AccuSeason Adv; FSDT GSX Pro; FS2Crew RAAS Pro; FS-ATC Chatter

As someone already pointed out, Norway has some fantastic scenery with great fjords and wonderful, snowcapped mountains. It's also a very small country when it comes to population size, so if you are trying to avoid spec hoggers, it's a good choice. Outside of Oslo, you won't really find any big cities (and even that city isn't very big). But the nature and all the charming little townships you will find in hidden nooks and crannies are gonna be awesome.

Greece is not really that spectacular, the Alps are much more beautiful. I recommend more the northern countries of Europe. Also, real visits and vacations in Greece aren`t really nice, boring nature and technology is on the same level as the middle age.

Just my 2 Cents.

The adriatic coast is wonderful as is following the Danube river through the Iron Gates. And Georgia is also stunning.

That's one heck of a balancing act by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight!😄

Another suggested low and slow flight would be up the Antrim Coast. Head north from Belfast (either EGAA or EGAC) and follow the western coastline of Northern Ireland, and when you reach the northern coast, you will see (possibly) the Bushmills Distillery, Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge and the Giant's Causeway. The coastline is attractive enough on the way there, but the destination is something else. Hopefully it will be well rendered.

OS:     Win11 Home; Mobo: Asus TUF Gaming Z690-Plus WiFi D4; CPU: Intel i5-12400 (Alder Lake) 4.4 GHz
RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR4 64Gb (4x16GB) 3600 MHz; GPU:  MSI Radeon RX 5700XT [8GB]
SSD:  Corsair Force MP510 (for OS);  2x 1TB & 1x 2TB Sabrent Rocket Nvme PCIe 4.0 (one for sim, two for addons)
HDD:  Seagate 3TB (Data); Seagate 1TB (Programs), ASUS TUF Gaming VG32VQ1B Curved 31.5" monitor, 1440p, 38Mbs ethernet

Fulcrum One Yoke, Honeycomb Bravo throttle, Thrustmaster Airbus TCA sidestick & throttle, Logitech Pro pedals, Xbox wireless gamepad (1st gen)

I can recommend you some nice routes in my area in the Austrian alps.

For example LOKN - LOKL

Or LOWZ - LOWS

Here's a shot from LOKN:

I also agree with the recommendations of flying in and around Greece, especially to 'island hop' among the Greek Islands. Enjoy.
