Well I got through and it's downloading. And I don't have gamepass. I have the premium deluxe version. Maybe because I pre-ordered after moving to Kirbati?

Same as me. So I dont know why. I tried several times. I tried installing the "digital ownship" thing on my pc again, and tried to launch the sim by clicking "launch" on "digital ownership", but that didn't launch anything. I tried launching the "Premium deluxe" and "Microsoft flight simulator", but only the latter would actually launch the game. And then I would get the "please insert the discs" message and I couldn't continue. 

Only by using the xbox gamepass for pc and launching the standard edition did it actually work.

Did you complete your pre-order prior to changing your region to Kirbati? I wonder if that's the difference

With that said, it might have worked to launch the premium deluxe AFTER I got the xbox gamepass. I didn't - I just jumped straight to standard because someone was saying that that worked for them.

Didn't work for me until I changed my date and time  (and Time Zone to Kirtimati Island). Now it's downloading.
