I love the intuitive and elegant way to create flight plans using the built-in flight planner in this sim. The way we can simply rotate the globe, select our departing and arrival airports, change the type of route whether it be direct, vfr, ifr, select the runways or gates if we want, and then hit fly and it will populate the flight plan for us into the FMC/MCDU all in one easy step!

When and if the PMDG and FSLabs, QualityWings planes come out for MSFS. I really hope that their FMC/MCDU will support making quick flight plans using this method as well. It's so quick and efficient! Gone are the days where I have to rely on 3rd party flight planning software. This solution should be the standard. I hope they keep improving on the built-in flight planning feature. I notice that the cruise altitude defaults to FL120 if you don't define it yourself after the plan has been automatically imported into the FMS/MCDU.

But please, I hope all 3rd party plane developers with G1000, G750, FMC, MCDU's in their planes will adapt this method

I agree, the inbuilt flight planner is easy to use and intuitive. And being able to load the flight into the FMS is a huge time saver for those of us who actually have day jobs and limited time to game.

However, I have the following problem: when I save a flight plan and then reload it, it defaults to positioning the aircraft on the runway rather than at the gate (which I specified when I created the flight plan).

Why not? Could you at least care to elaborate at least?

I'd like to be able to chose whether FP should fully load into the sim and aircraft, or not. Sometimes I would really appreciate it, even with FSL and PMDG.

I think he fears to miss that realism of doing it yourself like IRL.

Didn't even know you can save a flight plan using the built-in flight planner. That's awesome. I haven't used it extensively enough, but what you're reporting may be a bug. I think I came across a similar thread on the official forums with someone experiencing the same problem. If you haven't done so already I would definitely submit a ticket to Asobo to let them know about it so that they can fix it. The more people who can submit a detailed report of all the bugs or problems they find, the faster they can have it sorted and updated.

Apparently, because a "real simmer" spends 3 hours carefully putting together a route, agonizes another 2 over which SIDS and STARS to use, then spends 4 painful hours entering everything into the FMS.

They can just add an option then. So that way we can choose whether or not the flight plan will be automatically loaded into the FMC/MCDU/Garmin/etc

Totally understandable. I don't mind taking the time to do it realistically either, but it would be a nice feature to have for those of us who have limited time. Just give us the option whether or not the flight plan we created will automatically get loaded or not.

But.. what's the point of having a full flight plan drawn on the World screen if you don't want it into the avionics?

Just select your departure and hit fly...

The fact you can export from SimBrief plans directly as is including rnwys, sids/stars etc. is also great.

How do you do that? Will it work for G1000, G3000, Boeing FMS and the Airbus MCDU?

Sids and stars do not get imported. Tried yesterday

I just like using real world flight plans (which I then load into the FMS/GPS btw). For VFR I sometimes use the built-in planner.
