August 28, 20205 yr Before someone says "we have a screenshot forum"....I'm thinking maybe we have a post that we can click on in this forum and contribute to when we encounter a flight scenario like the one I did below: To me it's almost therapeutic to see things like this after plowing thru this forum where I quickly come to the conclusion of "what's the point?"... What's the point of all these mods we're seeing in just about every other thread...Well to me....THIS is the point. The time in the sim when you see something like this, your sim is purring along smoothly, the autopilot is on and you're just panning around the outside of the plane, and you realize we came from this in the not-too-distant past (relatively speaking of course) LoL: Not intending to diminish all the pain and strife some are going thru trying to make their sim experience as good as I've been fortunate enough to have thus far, but instead having a post to look at when you're about to throw in the towel and delete the sim off your drive, and decide if you want to keep working towards getting the sim looking like this with great performance, or just rent a real C172 and a chase plane and try to capture this scene for real. 🙂 I'm sure this post will roll off the front page in a few mins and quickly be forgotten, but if nothing else and you've just come in to look....I hope I've given you something to shoot for. 😉 Regards, Steve DraGet my paints for MSFS planes at flightsim.to here, and iFly 737s hereDownload my FSX, P3D paints at Avsim by clicking here

(their pseudo success story if you will) The problem with the Screenshot forum for this purpose is: I'm lazy and I'd have to click a few places to eventually get there The SS forum is not dedicated to just inspirational MSFS screens so there is a "wade-thru" process (although the tag system works well...however a lot of folks don't utilize it properly). I'm still lazy. 🤣 Regards, Steve DraGet my paints for MSFS planes at flightsim.to here, and iFly 737s hereDownload my FSX, P3D paints at Avsim by clicking here
August 28, 20205 yr Author LOL....as if I were predicting the future.....the post is already on page 3, long forgotten about (I completely understand mind you, there are far more pressing things to chat about other than looking at a screenshot as something to strive for to those still struggling to get the sim up and running). But, in addition to the "bump" that this is reply will generate and push the post back to the the front page for a few moments (not my intention, just that I had to reply to the irony of my post)....I may as well throw in another screen that knocked my socks off when I was panning around in flight from Boeing field to PDX (ok...so this is not a straight path.....but when I saw the mountains in the distance, I had to go look) 🙂 I'm gonna' wear you down with good will and genuine intentions of inspiring those in the pains of install or performance issues, THIS is why we sim! 🙂 Regards, Steve DraGet my paints for MSFS planes at flightsim.to here, and iFly 737s hereDownload my FSX, P3D paints at Avsim by clicking here
August 28, 20205 yr Is that st. Helens? I have to make a trek up that way. I have a sneaky suspicion that my terrain won't look as good as yours and I'm running the terrain and autogsn to the max. I was taking off from TNCM last night and the tree line on the mountain as I was taking off looked like FSX. One or 2 or 3 trees. Looked ugly. Once I got closer, the trees filled in but it just looks bad compared to some of the screenshots I see. I do think this thread is a good idea for the one off pictures! Keep them coming FAA: ATP-ME, 737 CA, enough time in the 757/767 to be dangerous 🤠 Matt Kubanda, 7950X3D, 64GB RAM, RTX 5090@4k, MSFS 2024

August 28, 20205 yr Does anyone actually know what the keystroke/s are to take a screenshot? And in which folder the screenshots are saved to? Thanks😉

I have to make a trek up that way Most certainly is. 😉 We're all going to do some "tweaking" to dial in our systems, and if we get to the point where we're all tweaked out and either the detail and performance is not what we want....we should look into upgrading hardware (let's hope anyone with issues that are already at max hardware just have to sort things out in thier system) 7 minutes ago, SirDan said: Yeah , I need a place to off load all my screenshots , my pic folder is getting full 😛 Hehe.....I agree and the screenshots forum is where to go for that. Not that I'm saying that all screens are stunning and invoke true, calming emotions, but certainly we've all grabbed some that literally make you gasp when you see them rendered before your eyes (OK....maybe I'm easily impressed.....but I hope everyone agrees this sim is at least more visually stunning than anything we've seen before) 6 minutes ago, seamaster55 said: Does anyone actually know what the keystroke/s are to take a screenshot? I'm not sure actually...I do a PrintScreen via the key named the same and paste it into my old copy of Paint Shop pro....I have macros that resize and do a few other post editing things that restore the image quality that heavy jpg compression introduces into the image (My screens are at 4k, so unfiltered, they are 20-30mbs in size....a have to resize and down-scale a lot to not make you watch a screenshow as the pic redraws on your PC if you don't have a T1 fiber connection, LOL) Regards, Steve DraGet my paints for MSFS planes at flightsim.to here, and iFly 737s hereDownload my FSX, P3D paints at Avsim by clicking here
August 28, 20205 yr Great idea Steve. I’m normally a tubeliner pilot but these days with MSFS I’m spending more time doing this kind of flying...VFR with indirect routes to fly over interesting places. I haven’t done the Seattle to Portland run yet over the volcanoes and mountains, it’s now next on my list though! August 28, 20205 yr Just a tip on screenshots. You can hit winkey-shift-s and it will put a gray overlay over the screen that you can drag with your mouse to select something to "screenshot". It's a windows function. You'll have to jump out to the notification area and save it from the snipping tool after, but it's a little more refined than Paint. It's a built in win10 tool. I've heard GeForce Experience has a tool for them as well if you're running Nvidia (which I am) but I've never bothered with it.
